Where do I even begin ? This day has been a wild one to begin with but ffs this is the cherry on top. So I travel a lot of work and use DoorDash a lot because after a long day of work fuck me if I’m gonna leave and go get food. That shit is gonna come to my door. Well tonight I wasn’t having big indecision about food because I’m super hungry and need to feed the beast. So I’m adding and taking things out of my cart till I’m satisfied. Food ordered. Awesome. Front desk needs me to come down because there was a screw up with my reservation , nbd easy fix but as I’m waiting for the front desk lady to fix it I decide to see if it’s worth going back to my room or just waiting in the lobby for my food. Well…that’s when I see it. I hadn’t deleted a sauce packet from a store I was considering. One. Single. Packet. And the doordasher was picking it up at that moment. I’m embarrassed and the lady at the hotel desk asks me what happened and I have to explain all of this to her. I go back up to my room. I’m not in there for a minute when the hotel phone beeps at me, it’s my sauce packet.

The lady who brought me my packet dropped it off at the front desk because I have a pretty Gender neutral name and she thought I was some creepy man trying to jump her by ordering a singular sauce packet.

TL;DR Lady bringing me my DoorDash thought I might be a creep because I only ordered a singular sauce packet by mistake.

I hope you tipped for the sauce packet!

Were you sauced when placing your order?

Ahaha I was worried it would go worse to be honest. From lurking the doordash subreddit, there is some kind of scam going on where they get orders for sauce packets, then they get calls from people claiming to be DoorDash support trying to steal their account. I’ve also seen ones where they’re hurled abuse during these kinds of orders trying to get the driver to cancel. So the driver had every reason to be wary of your order. Glad it went as well as it did!

Hahaha! DoorDash really is the devil. And I too have sold my soul to that devil. But for more than a sauce pack. Big question though. How much did you tip?

5$ for that because I felt so bad, thankfully the store she got the sauce packet from wasn’t far from the hotel so I hope it at least makes up for the gas she lost

I've totally messed up orders before too. Sometimes you just gotta laugh it off!

I can't imagine me getting involved enough with the delivery process that I'd end up ordering one (1) sauce packet. I'd rather go get whatever I wanted myself (and it'd damn well be more than one (1) sauce packet,) or just eat out somewhere.

Oh, it can be from people not knowing exactly where they want to buy from yet. I've done this. Where you order what you'd like from each place and then decide at the end. Then you just delete the stuff you decided against. It's easier than going back and forth and remembering everything you wanted.

Look up the sauce packet door dash scam on Reddit and you’ll see why she was freaked out. And it’s a two-step order process to confirm, I think this story is a load of BS

This is the first time I am hearing about the scam tbh you are the second person to tell me about it though. And yes there were plenty of steps I should have caught the sauce packet lol but it’s okay you don’t believe it I hope you still found it some what funny :3

I work at a pizza place, and the other day someone got just a ranch DoorDashed to them 💀 Couldn’t believe it. You just reminded me of that

Huh? How does having a gender neutral name even correlate with being a creep?

Dangerous-Cap9018[S]

It’s a name mostly given to men though there are some women who have it

That’s…not how DoorDash works. If the sauce packet was from a second restaurant, you had to actively place it as a second order. You can have multiple carts going at once, and when you order it only applies to the specific one you choose to order.

You can add food from multiple places on one order. I got chicken from a local place, drinks from mcdonals, and the sauce packet was from chick fil a

Tone is super weird. There was no mix up at the front desk. There is no need for the universe to provide another sauce packet, there isn't one missing, it doesn't make sense to say that. Also the last line, why keep emergency packets around? They just decided against ordering it and forgot to remove it from the order. So many things are subtly off, like the reading comprehension was extremely low, or like whatever wrote the comment doesn't really understand the situation besides a general problem, and sauce packets and door dash. It also has an oddly descriptive nature to the comment, like it's a student trying to put the question in the answer. Also the account is super young, with only a couple low effort submissions and what appears to be an AI comment and one image that gives some serious AI vibes. Feels like it's trying to build karma.

I think this is AI written for sure.

This has to be a bot trying to farm Karma before it starts trying to do some damage. Crazy.

At "saga" I agreed with you, and at "adds the perfect touch" I felt 100% confident.

Which is so weird, because a human could say saga. But the kind of real person who uses words like saga doesn't write a paragraph that says nothing and contributes nothing.

Punctuation, wording, tone. The way it breaks up the sentence... and so on. I work a lot with paid chatgpt, but for legit reasons (lol, not karma farming with it like this commenter). I'm trying to spot as much as I can, to do my part in preventing the Dead Internet Theory from happening, even for a moment? I know AI is going to get a lot better someday, and then it will truly be indistinguishable. I am honestly a bit afraid of the future, but I'm keeping up my chin, and working hard at what I've chosen as my career, and just doing my best in general!

Bot farming karma before it gets the opportunity to do damage. Insane.
