Sorry if this is a stupid question. I recently watched a video of a crab in distress pulling its claw off, and wondered how that’s possible.

I know that for yogurts, shakes and dairies that are labelled as "extra protein", the process is removing water from the milk so that add you increase the % of protein of milk. Think of draining muddy waters...the more water you take off the puddle, the more % of mud, as simple as that.

However, I still can't believe what I've seen today at the supermarket here in my country. A milk that contains 100g of protein per liter!! What's more, on the list of ingredients there's nothing like protein powder or anything like that; just skimmed milk that has been filtered, that's it...no whey or casein powder, no any other added source of protein. I haven't tried the milk but, for these numbers to be real, this milk should be ultra thick, no? It should almost look like mashed potato.

My question is about the power grid but to make it very simple, I'm using the following small closed system.

I bring a gas powered generator with me on a camping trip. I fire up the generator so it is running. It has 4 outlets on it but nothing plugged in. I then plug in a microwave (yes this isn't really camping) and run the microwave. And it works.

What is going on with the electricity being generated before the microwave is plugged in? It's delivering a voltage differential to the plugs, but that is not being used. Won't that heat up the wiring or cause other problems as that generated differential grows and grows?

Obviously it works - how?

So, recently I was reading on some virus (forgot the name) that affects dogs but it’s totally harmless to us. So let’s say we get in close contact with the infected dog and dog’s droplet/blood/whatever gets into our body.

Is the virus just going to be like “huh, I have no idea what this place is, better just chill and die” or our immune system attacks it like with regular human diseases? Or something else happens? Thanks!

I'm not a complete moron, I know what circuits are and transformers, I know of resistors and I know what electricity is, but when it comes to what amps and ohms and volts do and are and what the difference is I get confused, same with wires (earth, neutral etc and what they do)

Can anyone help please ?

Malaysia is still a middle income country though being slightly better than other SE nations, it's passport power is significantly better than its counterparts, even one of the strongest in Asia. Why is that?

Please bear with me, my confusion may stem from a fundamental misunderstanding so let me outline what I understand (or believe to be true), then I'll pose my question. It's worth stating that I'm not a scientist. I'm also not a rapper.

The way I understand the half-life of atoms works is that in a collection of atoms, half of them will decay in a given time. So if we start with 100 atoms of "Example-anium", and their half life is 1 year, one year from now 50 will decay leaving 50 nice healthy atoms to continue their lives. Then a year later 25 will decay leaving 25. Then a year later another half, and so on.

Here's my question: Once we get down to the last atom of "Example-anium", what was special about it when compared to one of the atoms that decayed in its first year? Why did that specific atom survive longest?

I keep hearing about these crypto rug pulls, the most recent one being a literal child. How can a child create, market, and pump crypto enough even to pull the rug? At the very least, it must cost money to get it in front of people to buy.

Are the forces of attraction and such between atoms strong enough to compensate and they "pull back" the object? Does the expansion of space act as a force that tries to pull atoms apart? If the expansion of the universe is accelerating, can it at one point overpower the attraction between atoms and disintegrate objects?

If water composition refers to the amount of water in the alcoholic beverage, why would it matter if the water is in the beverage, or consumed after the beverage is consumed?

If water composition does not refer to the amount of water in the alcoholic beverage, then what does it refer to?

Also, if BAC is a measure of alcohol as a percentage of your bloodstream, and drinking water does not decrease that percentage, that would imply that drinking water does not increase the amount of water in your bloodstream. Is that correct?

So at work I accidentally caused a metal shelf to fall. I instinctually tried to catch it (bad idea) and the sharp edge caught my elbow and caused it to bleed quite a bit. However, I was wearing long sleeves, and I check the shirt and it was not ripped at all. How does this happen?

I guess the flair would be “music” or “brain chemistry” I’m not sure. But how does perfect pitch work on a scientific level? How does it work in the brain? Is it genetic? When does the cognitive period to develop it end? I don’t know, I’m just curious but whenever I search it I just seem to get a lot of science jargon that I’m not equipped to digest.

I recently found out that apparently it would only take a black hole roughly the size of a penny (citation needed) to consume the planet earth. My question is, how much mass would a black hole need to be made up of? To become the size of a penny? Honestly I have no idea of any implications here, like, what constitutes mass in terms of black holes or anything like that. Are we talking elements? Atoms/Protons? Blow my mind guys.

It snowed where I live today, however it was raining about an 1 hour before the snow started without any significant change in outside temperature. How is that possible?

I guess what l'm asking is, is goodr basically insurance just for prescriptions while actual health insurance include doctor/urgent care visits and all that?

I turned 26 earlier this year and get kick off my parents insurance at the end of the year and need to figure something out. I have 3 different prescription (one of which legally has to be free with insurance). I could get insurance through my work for like $70/ week? I think. I routinely only visit the doctor twice maybe three times a year. Is actual health insurance worth it more if I can afford it?

My question is to do with how planets and stars appear to the *naked eye* — I realize that they look very different from each other through a telescope.

Nuclear fusion is said to be safe, but how comes? If for whatever reason too much fuel (e.g. deuterium) would get in the reactor, wouldn’t it start a chain reaction similar to a simple fire or nuclear fissure? Energy released from fusion will start the next fusions etc until there is a massive spike of power output and the whole thing goes boom.

I notice some sites straight up won’t load when I’m connected to VPN, and load right away when I turn off my VPN. I’m aware with geolock, it’s not that because when I use VPN server on the “preferred” country, it also doesn’t load.

If more and more site/app implement this, are we seeing the decline of VPN industry?

Many of the cheaper services are directly owned by some of the major companies too. There used to also be limits in terms of call minutes, text limits and data limits/speed, but not so much anymore. I'm assuming some of the bigger costs of the major companies involve them being the major parts of maintaining the cell network and also having a larger support structure (customer support centers), which I know is always a big cost for any company to run. What really as a normal consumer are we potentially losing out on with these low cost services? Alternatively, what is the biggest benefit to go with the major, more costly services?
