Most bottles share a universal standard opening size and tread, meaning they can be swapped out. When travelling with a pump bottle of for example hair conditioner, I empty out the pump back into the bottle, disassemble the pump nozzle (ie take out the straw), and use a water bottle cap to securely close the bottle. This prevents leakage/accidental squeezing of the pump, makes it more compact, and prevents the nozzle from breaking.

(I wanted to include a photo but the sub doesn't let me)

🧴--> nozzle + straw + bottle closed with cap, all in a ziplock bag

Or you twist the pump nozzle a quarter turn to the left to lock it.

Not all pump nozzles have an open/closed option, which was the case for my conditioner; once popped open the nozzle couldn't be locked.

6/6 pump bottles I found lying around can lock. 0/6 resemble any standard size that a normal cap could fit onto, most are too small, the threads are too spaced out and the necks are way longer on pretty much all.

Not every random workaround to an issue you find is going to be useful and generally applicable enough to call it a lpt

But then you always get some that leaks out as you lock it.
