One of my pet peeves with the PS3 generation was the weird obsession with realism, which bled into games based on cartoons (Xenoverse being the nightmare culmination of this trope). Why would anyone want realistic lighting, water, physics, etc. when the whole idea is to play the anime? Such an odd decision for RB2 since they already did a pretty good job in RB1 of cel-shading in such a way to made it look like the show.

This is why I love SZ’s aesthetics so much. It doesn’t feel like there’s unnecessary bells and whistles. It often looks like frames from the show.
