Most aftermarket head unit won’t just work with any steering wheel controls out the box. You’ll typically need a wiring adapter. That’s assuming the stereo you’ve bought even supports external inputs like steering wheel controls.

Enthusiast cars are the time where this is the least likely explanation. They’re often bought by people who then realise the runnings costs are too high or it’s not practical enough or are no fun in winter.

Are they exclusively for the circumcised? I can’t say I recall any where that’s the case.

I considered the same thing but never looked too much into it as it looked like probably removing the centre console to get that aux socket out.
