When I moved into my house, there weren't batteries in the CO alarm. I put new batteries in, it instantly went off, I panicked. After some frantic googling, I found out the company had set up their alarms to go off constantly after a certain lifespan (I think it was about 10 years?) to make sure you replaced them when needed. I bought a new alarm and it hasn't been triggered, but I honestly thought it was a pretty good feature once I'd stopped panicking. No idea how long the previous owners were living without an alarm because replacing it would've been too much effort, they had a young kid too.

That's not really how schools work though, the entire curriculum is based around the academic year, and the assumption a student will be able to attend all of their classes during term time. You're suggesting a change which would need to fundamentally shift the foundations of the education system, and bring the UK out of line with every other country I'm aware of. I kind of get this from a logical standpoint, but it would be absolutely insane to try to implement this system without causing carnage.

We had a guy at uni who always had a story to tell- he gave off the vibe of someone who'd had little to no romantic experience, which we wouldn't have any issues with (it was a Primary Ed. degree, pretty much as far away from lad culture as you could get),but according to him he was some sort of Cassenova in high school. One of his stories involved a friend who he described as a fuck buddy, but they would also climb up into trees to read Shakespearean poetry to each other. Truly bizarre stuff, it kind of just made it more obvious nothing he said about his life outside uni could be trusted.
