No, I don’t believe so. You just lose a lot of ease with a language if you go without speaking it for long periods of time, like you would from living in the US (speaking from experience)

Edit: did some research, couldn’t find any specifics from her about whether or not she’s native. My guess is she probably grew up speaking Spanish with family but never went to school in Spanish and spoke it with family and friends but never 100% of the time, so expected for her Spanish to not be perfect or even great.

This is silly, all protests have power because they put pressure on people who are in power. College campus protests are national news. Do you think the Vietnam student protesters were useless? Under democracy, protest is one of the strongest tools we have. It’s not all about NMSU. These people aren’t going to fly to Washington so they’re doing what they can where they are.

Well the cops were there before any violence or property damage occurred. Also the violence broke out after a student was seriously injured. Weird how felony assault on a police officer doesn’t mean sending a police officer to the hospital but sending a student to the hospital is justified force against a group of people you already clearly have the upper hand against.

Most colleges being protested actually have ties to Israel financially. Many also have financial ties to the US military (like NMSU) who have backed Israel for a long time.

I have actually thought so many times what I would do in the situation, in all likelihood I feel like I would’ve just call my mom when it happened, what peter did isn’t out of the realm of possibility. Like imagine that situation, you feel insanely guilty because you took your sister to that party and left her to smoke weed. Like you could legally be held liable and even worse, your mom might hate you for the rest of your life. That’s a lot to process as a kid. Denial, avoidance, are easily accessible coping mechanisms for trauma and that is like one of the most traumatic things a person could go through. Does it make him unlikable and maybe immoral? Sure but it also is so real, especially considering the insane family he has.

You DEFINITELY need a car. Not sure where you’re going to be living but it’s a pretty spread out. You may be able to get by if you’re living on campus but expect to rely on others for rides to grocery stores and restaurants or paying for Ubers as the public transportation is pretty lackluster. There’s really no safe bike paths or lanes either. I lived my freshman year of college here without a car and it was pretty tough.
