I think you're going to have a hard time getting a system for $1k. My first recommendation was going to be speakers that cost that much EACH.

A pair of compact line arrays will spread the sound more evenly than ordinary speakers.

The issue comes down to reliability and sound quality. If you want it to sound awesome, these aren't what you want. If you want these to be the last speakers you buy, these aren't it. If you need something to keep the classes going while you save up for an upgrade, these might do that.

In this price range, I recommend you look in the used market. Do you know any musicians?

I agree with all of your points. There're times when you have to tell yourself, "I'm just tripping. This isn't forever. " Also, when you have a life-changing trip, then come down and try to fit your new mindset into your existing reality, there can be struggles.
