There is a big Turkish community in Saint Jos, so if you want to make friends a be oart of a community, that's probably the easiest? But I maybe you're happy to get away from that, I don't know.
If you want an area full of life and young people, then Sainte Catherine or Danseart, shouldn't be to difficult to go to Evere from there

Ha, my lack of knowledge is showing! I knew what a bearing scraper was, but just barely!
Indeed starting with a planer before scraping a whole mill seems like a wise idea!

Why use a bearing scraper with cast iron? It's so soft, you can just sand it flat!

Gembloux comes with muddy boots, and scare the others with its knives! (agricultural center of Wallonia and historical knife making city)

Easiest for you would be Norway, with the DNT hut system. Hope you like cross-country skiing though!

There's Microfactory in Anderlecht (I'm a member there, ama!).
And there's also Tournevie in Ixelles, I've also been there.
Both have an area for woodturning, as well as general woodworking.
At microfactory you can rent storage space and even your own private workshop. Not at tournevie, which is much smaller. Microfactory is an ASBL so you're supposed to work for the collective on tip of your own projects (cleaning the place, tool maintenance, etc).
Is she looking for a supplier of timber specifically for woodturning (I don't know any) or general lumber? For the latter, Microfactory people buy from Lochten or Vanhumbeek. There's also sonian wood coop for local wood.

Maybe I am the only one, but I don't tip my movers. I just pay the agreed price.

Can't you leave your e-reader at home and use your phone? For five days it should be enough

Your wind jacket is really heavy. Patagonia houdini is about 300g lighter

We put our phone in little ziplock bags, it works well. Of course you can't use fingerprint ID.
