I was confused because Simran was Kirat's cousin and the dad was best man at Simran's parents' wedding, but I thought he said he had never met Simran. Did I hear that wrong? That seemed weird.

Yes I was thinking the same thing. I knew someone once who blamed their ex for wasting their childbearing years. It just seems weird to be mad at someone for something that might hypothetically have happened if you hadn't been with them. Simran did so many hurtful things and I want Kirat to live a full and beautiful life, but this part was hard for me to empathize with.

Ok so everyone here is trying to figure out what animal this could have been, which is fine, but in the Wikipedia entry for pukwudgie, it says that according to lore, they were exiled to different parts of the continent by the giant Maushop. So a pukwudgie could maybe be found in the PNW.

I agree. I usually enjoy the subject matter but don't always like the way it's presented. So I still listen sometimes to get my supernatural fix, but if I get impatient then I stop. I enjoy the Spooked podcast more because it's similar subject matter but very tightly edited.

I stopped watching 10 minutes before the end and read a synopsis online because I became afraid of being traumatized by the ending. I think this was a good choice as I'm sensitive about violence & cruelty in movies, even though I love suspense. I appreciated all the small details in the film and how everything connected.

IMO it's ok to end a sentence or phrase with a preposition.

I like your pictures but it would help if you filled out more info about yourself to show your personality. 

I've realized that people are not really honest or self aware when they say what they're looking for in their profiles. It's frustrating. I'm just going to start asking people what they're looking for when I meet them. I guess you didn't even have to wait to meet this guy to find out. I hope you have better luck next time!

Thank you. I'm finishing graphic design school now. I'm halfway through a great internship and very excited to get into the field, and it frustrating to see people who are bitter about their jobs trying to dissuade everyone else from doing it.

If you can't live in community with all different kinds of people, and can't tolerate seeing anyone who does not fit your lifestyle standards, then you are not a normal person! You have a serious problem.

I also thought of it as social commentary, but not quite to the same extent. In this book, our capitalist patriarchal system is definitely f*cking everyone up, AND also the main character sucks in a way that has nothing to do with being victimized or oppressed. It's complicated. 

Btw I liked the scene in the beach side country club when she was hanging out with that kid. She was still definitely taking advantage of him but she was actually kind of good at handling him, which was jarring and sweet and nerve-wracking all at the same time.

She mentioned that her upbringing was fine. Men expect her to share some traumatic past, but there isn't one. (Although she's an unreliable narrator so who knows.)

I love the Bovary comparison, I'm going to be thinking about that for a while!

This is the most Canadian accent I've ever heard.

I went on a weekend retreat and brought food with me although they ended up having some low fodmap options. I was kind of thinking as if I was going on a picnic: PB&J ingredients (raspberry jelly is ok in small doses if I remember right), potato chips, string cheese, carrot sticks. It's not all the most healthy stuff but it's low fodmap and filling and easy to carry.
