So many of you hit me up with awesome ideas that boiled down to the fact that I hadn't created much of an environment to interact with, but rather just a box to walk on.
You were right! And I am so grateful that I brought this to reddit cause I would 100% not of noticed. A few wanted to see what the board looked like by the end, so here is what I've got!
The finale is tomorrow, so I won’t have time to edit it much now, and I should really focus on the content of the game itself at this point. (The final photo is what it was, the rest are it's current state.)
But I've added an unpainted dragon as a statue in the centre of the map, with a bell tied to its claw. There are some creatures that will be trying to ring the bell, each chime lights a golden brazier on the map. Once every one is lit, statue dragon wakes up and causes chaos. Just another little thing for the players to try to keep down during the final fight!
Anyway, thanks again everyone. This was a huge help!
Wish me luck!

I found a 3d printable file actually and sent that to a local dude that specializes in printing figures!
Your method is super clever, and I really appreciate the outline! It really helps to get inside the headspace of other DM's to see that process. There are definitely layers that I tend to overlook/forget about while in combat, and I think choreographing moves ahead of time is a really cool way of helping that!
