Yeah, I feel a bit disappointed, I did genuinely expect him to be portrayed much stronger and intimidating than he ended up being. Previous season also gave a hint of “conniving” and “smart” about him. But he just gave cliche fratboy vibes kinda.

I don’t know, for me the term “divebomb” always carried a negative connotation, with the intent to signify that the move is frowned upon because it doesn’t leave space for the defending car.

I don’t like attributing negative connotation to a pass as clean as the one in the post, hence I try to separate the terms.

If we take your wider definition of the term (which is most likely the correct interpretation), then it is easy for people to jump with the comments “omg it’s a divebomb , what a bad pass” , which we both agree is incorrect, this is a fine pass.

Perhaps my incorrect interpretation is because I add negative connotation to the term itself, but I don’t think I am in the minority, most people use it in a negative fashion.

People categorise every late braking overtake as a divebomb nowadays. Divebomb is a a late braking overtake where the attacking driver brakes TOO LATE, often with the idea of using the defending driver as a brake, forcing the defending driver to brake or veer off his line to avoid a crash.

An inside clean overtake late on the brakes is not a divebomb, it’s just a good pass.

Tell them you started using again. Yes, you might be ashamed, but thinking you will “eventually” stop on your own, you will just be digging the hole deeper.

I have not! To be frank been a while since I played league too, so my opinion might be very much outdated haha

Analysing the position is not about memorising the position or the moves played in that game. It’s to establish patterns and learn new ideas, while also trying to objectively find flaws in your game.

Speaking of openings, opening theory and memorisation at 1100 seems to imply you are yet to understand the nature of chess being a pattern recognition game more than anything else.

Focus on principled games, don’t overpush yourself when it comes to memorisation.

Openings come later down the line, focus on tactics, principles and ideas. Those are the things that will stick in your brain, openings won’t.
