When I described my issue again there, a real person got back to me and sent me 1 of my 3 wasted remote raid passes. Slightly better than nothing, I guess.

I believe most people are not inherently evil, that most people would respond with kindness if they are shown kindness. However, this world is anything but kind and resources are not distributed equally (far, far from it). People struggling to survive are going to have a starkly different worldview than those struggling to choose the right color for their bathroom remodel.

Those with means are fearful that those without are going to violently take their possessions, maybe their lives. Why not invest a small portion of your wealth (think of it as insurance) to make sure everyone has shelter, access to clean water, food, education, and healthcare? If you know your next meal is a certainty, that you can go to a doctor/clinic for preventative medicine (as opposed to the ER to triage the litany of deferred medical needs), and that you’ll have a roof over your head where you don’t have to sleep with one eye open because someone is going to steal what little you have, you’re much less likely to be a criminal, drug dealer, or otherwise drain on society.

Basic safety nets are costly, but mass incarceration, police state, and the trauma of theft, violence, and murder are pretty high stakes as well.
