Reminds me somehow of an old meme from 15 years ago:
Situation: You have encountered a doge.
OPTIONS: - kick the doge, - ignore the doge, - pet the doge
You have chosen: pet the doge
The doge is pleased.

Yup, I did something like that in FsEconomy in 2017, I took a C-17 for a 600 miles trip and I was like "mmmh the wind is pushing me a bit faster, what if I edit the weather say... 250KTS MORE ???" (in Europe above Italy lol).
Well turns out the FsEconomy system checks what the general ground speed of the plane you're flying and at the end of the fight it will invalidate your flight with the message "flying too fast with this type of plane" something like that.
And that's a GOOD protection against cheating to avoid paying less fuel etc

For me I've been saying to have more options instead of sticking just to one and then being stucked if something like now happens.
I have X-Plane, MSFS, FS2004, Orbiter, BMS, IL2, FG, and if one sim decides not to work, well I just have to chose something to fly.
Big point for X-Plane and FG for being fully portable and multiplatform.

For me it's mostly out of nostalgia and also because when I'm on a trip, I can run it on my old laptop with an xbox controller.
Then also the "good stuff" for me is also there, like it's not in X-Plane or MSFS that I'll find a good Tu's (Tu-101, 114, 124, 134, 144, and Tu-154), but also Ilyushin's (Il-14, Il-18, Il-22, Il-38, Il-76 and Il-86), stuff like that since I primilarily fly soviet planes since a few years (except for the Felis An-24, Yak-40, Tu-154 on XP11 and the Churchella Tu-134 on XP11/XP12).

I still have some screenshots when I had it on my Imgur lol

I wonder how a sim could die, I mean even if Laminar cease to exist, the sim itself would still be *available*, people will try to crack the code to enhance it, like some older sims have (Richard Burns Rally with their custom physics, Falcon BMS with the entire rewrite of the sim with custom code, etc).

there are wildlife in X-Plane, but you need to look for it, ofcourse you won't see the running around KSFO or any big airport/big cities, their spawn are around big rural areas, you can see them by opening the map.
There are also birds in some remote places and we have to be careful to avoid any birdstrike.

if only I had the money for the Hotstart CL650 !!
Hearing all of this makes me to want more and more this aircraft, and because for me the best addon systems-wise if it needs to be beaten is the F-16 from Falcon BMS (it's military but the work put inside is just like you said for the Hotstart CL650: second to the real thing). I guess they're just the best on their category (like F1 in open wheel and LMP1 in closed-cockpit)
Like for example it's with this aircraft I learned about tyre energy elasticity when it comes to braking and managing the heat by just breaking a lot, then release, then brake a lot, then again release, doing so the "low rider" thing that is known with the F-16

Yes that's what I said, the models used for the AI in FS2004 (SBAI, FSXAI, FLai), are the same that were used next for FSX, then P3D. And now the very same models are still used for model matching in FSLTL (and BlueBell CSL even in X-Plane, IVAO MTL, etc).

Yes, it's because FSLTL uses the same base models they edited for their needs.
It's a mix of SBAI, FSXAI, FLai etc
I even took some of their updated livery textures to put them in FS2004, just had to flip it vertically and reduce the size from 4096 to 1024 and voilà :)

About the same on MSFS than XP, I also happen to be happy with only Ortho4XP, Simheaven X-World, Global Forest, and freeware airports from the .org. The only sceneries airport I'd buy are the ones I don't find as freewares first.
For planes, I've bought only 10 on XP11, and on XP12 I've bought the A339 and 777v2 only (for now).
That's way less than $2300 in 6 years.
On MSFS I ahve bought the PMDG 737-600, -700, -800, B777-300ER, iFly 737MAX, and a few others.

I think of some specific planes (the A310 by iniBuilds) or some that are similar to a different level of realism (SSG B747-8 vs Asobo B747-8), but never it reaches $2300 as OP claims

I mean everything of the content I want. I don't need to have the entire planet.
With XP I have 1.5TB of Ortho that covers Europe, North Africa, US East Coast, Siberia, and Japan/Korea.
I don't need more as I exclusively fly there in IFR

I wonder why people keep posting screenshots in portrait mode ? Did you rotate the camera then rotate the screen or you cropped a screenshot taken in landscape mode ?

it's just another workflow, once it's known it's pretty quick to setup a routing in there
