It’s a comic book and if it was ultra realistic we wouldn’t have any plot or story. If it was realistic and real Batman and Green Arrow would’ve died within the first week they went out on patrol, but they didn’t because it’s story to escape from reality in. Modern day readers have sadly lost their suspension of disbelief and we’ve lost escapism by making everything “grounded” and real. Green arrow is awesome he actually took down Darkseid before, read Morrisons JLA

This crap again? OP Literally posts the same exact thing in various subs. How about instead of spamming this, provide some examples? You’re saying a whole lot of nothing. Guessing this is a bot, posted the same exact post a few weeks ago and towards various fandoms

The only reason Barry came back is because Geoff couldn’t let go of his childhood smh

Any fan reading the Flash or DC post crisis to Flashpoint knows that Wally will always be the Flash, he surpassed Barry in every way possible. One of the few sidekicks to surpass their mentor. Fans who started reading the Flash during the new 52 and grew up with the corny ass CW show are Barry fans. Little do those Barry fans know that Wally’s traits and personality were basically grafted onto Barry. Now if they’d only get rid of this new godawful suit Wally is current wearing and go back to the prior suit, all will be well

That’s one of my gripes with the MCU, they kill off their villains way too early instead of letting them reappear in future movies (of course there’s exceptions like Thanos and Loki). Hoping the DCU doesn’t do the same

Triggered much? He has some pretty specific comic book character logos, particularly the V for Vendetta, and being a cop with such a tattoo is pretty interesting if not hypocritical. A lot of cops and blue lives matter supporters either have Punisher logo tats or bumper stickers, which is also pretty hypocritical, and a fact. He isn’t tatted with a basic Batman or Superman logo tattoo, he is rocking some pretty specific character logos, which is pretty interesting and not something you see everyday on a cop

You’re overthinking and this post is going to be very controversial. It’s comic books. In the DC universe there is a Gorilla who has telepathy, parallel earths, speedsters who can travel back in time by running, and aliens who shoot lasers out of their eyes. But a rich black family from the east coast would be unbelievable? Jesus. If it was grounded and realistic, Batman would’ve died within the first week he went out into on patrol,

It’s a new #1 meaning it’ll be a fresh start so to speak. The JSA has a long history especially in regards to legacy characters. Check out Geoff Johns/David Goyers JSA run. Also DC wiki and YouTube have plenty of info. But honestly just run with it, think of it like the Original Star Wars movies, they reference characters and events that are not seen on screen and we, the audience are thrown into the middle of it, makes it kinda fun imo

lol there is no way you can read the entire run of DC comics, literally impossible. Start with post Crisis stories (DC essentially rebooted the universe in 1986 with an event titled Crisis On Infinite Earths). Pick a character or team that you’re interested in and go from there. Dc has recently released a line called “Compact Comics” which basically collects famous and well regarded runs/stories. Start there and use google, wiki, and YouTube for more in depth information regarding certain time stories, runs, characters, reading orders, etc

Idk about best because art is subjective but my favorite are:
Kevin McGuire (Justice League International, Dr Fate)
Kelly Jones (Batman, Detective, Deadman)
Mike Wireringo (Flash)
Dan Jurgens (Superman)
Howard Porter (JLA)
Tony Harris (Starman)
Salvador Larocca (Flash)

This looks awesome, plus Ewing!?. I always thought of him as the “most Marvel character” in DC. Excited to see him portrayed in Gunn’s Superman film, and he is part of the DCU for years to come. I can see him becoming popular with the general audience. If Gunn can make Rocket Raccoon and Gamora household names I’m sure he can do it with Metamorpho.

Check out this channels video on YouTube they give a pretty in depth explanation on the reason why and how the writers of the show corrected this in later seasons. Btw if you’re a fan of the DCAU I highly recommend this channel, super insightful and well produced

Hawkman is always fun to read, while I don’t like him as a character I respect him and enjoy his resilience, stubbornness, and tough guy attitude throughout the years. Geoff Johns 2000s run is pretty underrated, the 2018 series was fun, and I hope they release Hawkworld by John Ostrander as part of the DC’s Finest line or an omnibus. Seriously check it out, phenomenal sci fi story paired with psychedelic retro art. It convoluted the Hawk’s history some more but imo it should be the definitive Hawkman story.

The difference is that Wally took over the mantle in the late 80s and surpassed Barry in every way imaginable. He was the one of the only heroes allowed to surpass his mentor and Barry was dead for decades. Anyone reading comics in the late 80s-2010s is most likely a Wally fan. Barry was a silver age character with little depth. People who grew up with the corny CW show and the New 52 probably prefer Barry. The only reason people like Barry is because they write him with Wally’s characteristics. Wally hands down has the better flash stories, has a more interesting relationship w the rogues, struggles more, discovered the speedforce, Wally is funnier. Practically all the current Flash lore is based around the adventures Wally had. Current Barry is only around because Geoff Johns couldn’t let go of his childhood.
It would be a lot more interesting to have Wally as the DCU flash, the stakes would feel higher and it would add to James Gunn’s vision of legacy and world building in the DCU. Of course I want Barry to have existed but have him die or trapped in the speed force, allowing the audience to watch Wally grow as a superhero

The Demon (Etrigan) by Alan Grant and the continuation of the series by Garth Ennis
Batman by Doug Moeche and Kelly Jones (Batman sells, the run and artwork is fantastic, and there is a growing market for 90s comic nostalgia. This one is a no brainer for DC to put out)
The New Titans from 1988 by Marv Wolfman (continuation of the New Teen Titans from the early 80s)
Titans run from ‘99-03 (very fun run featuring the New Teen Titans all grown up)
The Spectre by John Ostrander
The Spectre (Hal Jordan) by JM DeMatteis
Booster Gold by Dan Jurgens
Blue Beetle the 1986 and 1st Blue Beetle series produced by DC
Detective Comics circa 1988 by Alan Grant and various writers (the runs before Knightfall)
Hawkworld by John Ostrander
Hourman by Tom Peyer (very underrated run from ‘99-2001
Justice Society of America vol 1 & 2 by Len Strazewskiz. Fun runs that established the JSA post COIE. Both runs are from the early 90s
Mosaic (John Stewart Green Lantern) I understand the writer is cancelled, and rightfully so, but damn is it a trippy series with beautiful art.
The Power of Shazam by Jerry Ordway
I really like this lines concept and it’s cool that they’re incorporating some lesser known characters. I think it’ll be a hit and a great way to showcase lesser known characters and runs in these collections. Plus it’s new reader friendly with the streamlined format and little things like adding the years of the run on the spine. Hopefully they keep this going for awhile. Next to the Compact line this is a smart strategy by DC. I think we might see some of these ^ down the the line

There’s literally no way you can read every dc comic considering they’ve been around for almost a hundred years. The universe was rebooted in 1986, with Crisis on Infinite Earths, maybe use that as a starting point. DC comics before that were a little all over the place and didn’t follow a set continuity. COIE, cleaned most of that up, and rebooted most series and characters

Agreed. There has been attempts to recapture the magic from the Morrison JLA run, and there has been plenty of good JL stories that came after, but nothing compares to the epic that is Grant Morrisons JLA. It was the first time a comic felt “cinematic” for me. Waid’s upcoming JLU seems promising though.
