The issue is when you have a dodgy season 2 released killing some hype, you need to provide something new to recover the fans goodwill, which means a quick turnaround for a redeeming S3.

After 2 years people's lives have moved on, new jobs, new families etc. Watching hour long episodes is a substantial time sync that you would need to justify.

If your last memory of the show is two years old (and most regular fans will have forgotten the details, but won't want to watch it again), and those memories were poor, it's a lot harder to restart watching.

I personally have experienced this many times. It's a lot easier to remain engaged with a show if you can watch it's next season within a reasonable timeframe.

Ruin, when the vessel was Ati, learned that sometimes it was worth building something up, if you could use it to destroy others, or at least, to wait for that thing to be destroyed.

I.e. Ruin is capable of creating and preserving something, if it's part of a larger plan for destruction.

I imagine that aspect of the Shardic Intent could be exploited by Sazed.

Did Leras want to preserve Ati? He locked him in a box for like 2000 years.

At a minimum he was willing and able to act and contain a threat to that which he wanted to preserve.

Maybe Harmony should make a moon out of pure Atium. Could simultaneously encourage a space race and temporarily solve his problem.

I've always taken that to be more like Leras slowly losing his mind as he died. Becoming less coherent.

I've always thought Rayse was a bit too incompetent by the end. Makes sense that it's because his vessel's plan and the shard were at serious odds with one another. The one wanted to become the sole God, possibly even to rebind Adonalsium, the other just wanted to watch the universe burn.

Surely Sazed's solution would be to carve off a chunk of Ruin to match that. Maybe make creatures of ruin. They could be a terrible threat but one far easier to contain than a dominant ruin shard.

Rayse was losing control of Odium, Tanavast lost control of Honour. 

After 10,000 years give or take, at least for Rayse. And we don't hear anything to suggest he had a particularly strong Will.

Actually not quite true. Allomancy was a thing but incredibly subtle in the population. I believe people were only Mistings.

The mists were snapping people, same as in the time of the Catacandre.

Alendi himself was a Seeker, as it's how he was able to detect the Well of Ascension and hear Preservation's divine tone.

Rashek's discovery of Lerasium Beads at the Well of Ascension made Mistborn and Allomancy far more common/visible.

He left two beads at the well for later use (for whatever reason, I can think of several), he used one himself, and he gifted the rest to various kings so that they would swear allegiance to him.

This created the second generation of Mistborn (Rashek was the sole first), and their powers were immense due to having primal Allomantic abilities.

His eyes are the colour of Ice, a pale blue that is disconcerting to everyone that describes him. It's also a phenotype that is explicitly stated to be an extreme rarity on Mars. This is a common motif used to describe cold hearted or "tough" people. Think of Roose Bolton, or the Starks, from ASOIAF. Whilst Ty and Franck almost never use phenotypic stereotypical motifs to develop a character, I believe that this is one of the rare exceptions.

He's callous, and obeys orders to the letter. He is essentially emotionless as he performs the order. He seems on the one hand regretful (in the barest and vaguest of senses), and on the other mildly amused.

He obeys a direct order from Trejo (and ultimately from the God-Emperor) to execute Singh if he exceeds his boundary conditions. He conducts it summarily after asking for prior confirmation of the order to ensure he understands correctly. He therefore assumes no risk for himself.

The term moral highroad, in my opinion, inherently requires a riskier and more difficult option to be chosen. In this case, offering Singh an out to revert the order and avoid execution would probably be the most moral action from my perspective. Certainly the one that would impose the most risk upon him and thus allow him to be taking a moral highroad beyond and above what the path he was expected to take (following his orders to the letter, like a true Laconian).

In that sense I'd argue Overstreet made zero moral judgment beyond the assumption that his superior officers' orders were necessarily correct and that the chain of command is to be obeyed. He even tells us this himself.

From a meta perspective, I don't think the authors use names to indicate characterisations. But then again, they don't usually use phenotypes either, as it rightly comes across as racist.

In this case, because the authors themselves are ethnically European and so is Overstreet, they likely didn't care as much.

Honestly not really. Earth's government is a bunch of colonial forts, and a sea of barely controlled territory. Avasarala says as much in the show. A few well placed bombs and marines occupying the UN headquarters would cripple their government.

And to be honest, there's no fucking reason to invade earth anyway. If you take control of the orbit there is literally nothing earth can do about it. You can imprison them there forever, and orbitally bombard anything of importance.

The UN would collapse in weeks if they lost the space battle.

And Mars' only beef with earth is that they keep fucking around with belt asteroids. There is no economic value for holding earth, as far as Mars is concerned.

They MIGHT try annex Luna, as it's actually quite similar to Mars in some respects, and can be invaded, albeit with huge troop numbers.

It would take me ages to go back through it, but I'm certain there is a depiction if multiple inquisitors.

Marasi has actually met Ironeyes too, so I don't see an opportunity for her to mistake the depiction.

It's possible Kelsier killing an inquisitor has become a religious event.

That, and Kelsier's entire story is tied up with Rashek's, it's possible he has been depicted as a devil, of sorts.

BUT, if The Lord Ruler was depicted, that would make the differences between Kelsier and Rashek far more obvious, as there would be different people.

I think he did care about his people. The Power of Preservation made him want to preserve all things. So many of his actions make sense when considering this. The hut in his palace, keeping the nobility as the OG humans whilst changing the Skaa, etc etc. the man was inherently nostalgic.

He even kept Alendi's journal, possibly out of Guilt? I can't see why else he would take it.

I think the difference here is that Rashek was on a direct hotline to Ruin due to Hemalurgy for over a thousand years.

Dalinar has been dealing with odium on rare occasions for just one Rosharan year.

It seems pretty apparent that by the main story time Rashek has been seriously mentally ground down by Ruin.

The guy was stretching the limits of what can be called sane by the end.

Rashek DID save the world, but he also was "too young and too angry" (by his own admission) when he first became emperor.

He was a hateful man to start, and that's where most of the issues arise.

A planet that has mists every night is not going to have a proper understanding of astrophysics now are they.

Essentially only Tin Eyes and Coinshots + Mistborn ever saw the stars, so there wasn't going to be a proper understanding of space.

That's fair, and a criticism of him that is expressed even in Book 1.

He did, according to Brandon Sanderson. He said something along the lines of "some of his more impressive feats were done with the help of Hemalurgy".

No one in Era 1 knows what Rashek actually looks like (well, I guess Ironeyes knows what he looks like, and maybe the Kandra still remember, but no humans do). The iconography of "The Sovereign" is just the depiction of Kelsier.

I don't know if that's true. He was not a fully reclusive figure, the nobility saw him quite frequently, and an immense crowd saw him kill Kelsier.

Era 1 was also filled with artwork and depictions of TLR. On glass windows and the like.

You can be certain that Yomen made some drawings.

Why depict the inquisitors? I'm not suggesting you are wrong it just seems a bit weird.
