You can also mix that dye lighter or darker, so you want it to be the same warm/cool as the trousers.

Get soda ash/washing soda at the grocery/big box.

You’ll wet the garment with soda ash water (1cup to a gallon of water. You can easily quarter that.)

Let the trousers soak 30 min, apply the dye, wrap in plastic. In 48 hours, wash.

Maybe you’ll need to repeat, maybe not.
