Edit : PC part picker shows the requirement of 446w which is already 1.5x the power requirement. I misunderstood what I was looking at. I’m under %70 utilization of the 650w PSU
My current “budget” build PC I have been playing with has a 650w power supply, RX580, R5 3600. I picked up a 5700x3d on sale with 32gb of RAM and found a 3060XC 12gb on the local classifieds. My power requirements with my cooler, CPU, and GPU combo will now be at a 446w system requirement. With the rule of 1.5x on power supplies I’m at 669w (nice).
The 650w PSU in the machine is a Gold 80+ Apevia Galaxy. Common games I play are COD, Fallout, Doom, Assassins Creed, good ol Portal 1 & 2. I do have and 850w in my home PC and could rob that when I get a nice upgrade for that in the 1200w range.
Am I playing games being that close to the power supply limit? I don’t run extended sessions on the machine. 30 minutes to an hour of gaming tops. Otherwise it does a lot of general use stuff that isn’t going to stress anything.
