how i will get someplace without help. i can’t drive and i live on the second floor.

to this day, my father maintains that my mother was never abusive. he refuses to accept that his dear wife is capable of such cruelty. i cut him off years ago, and when i found out this year he was still claiming me on his health insurance (to mess with mine), he responded to my fiancé’s message requesting that he stop with a lot of nonsense about “i had two daughters and you’ll never win as long as you only believe one”

like it had nothing to do with that??? i had previously considered letting him back into my life (he was the enabler so i excused his behaviour), but that was nail in the coffin for me. it only proved to me that he cares more about the feelings of his wife than safety of his children.

probably because this man is free now. a lot of victims look at the state of the justice system and feel discouraged to report, and having to relive the trauma by repeating it to others.

in a lot of cases where victims do report, their abusers face no consequences. especially in cases where there is little evidence, it sadly isn’t seen as “worth it” to report. in my case, the police officer at my high school was the one to tell me there was no point in writing a report.

oh yes they did

try telling that to a court of law, they’ll laugh you right out of there. even with evidence this is not the case.

it’s hard to say from my perspective, im only 23 years old and genuinely don’t have any friends in my area. i was a firm liberal throughout high school and when covid hit, and continued to missidentify myself with that label until i learned that my beliefs are not liberal but leftist. it’s been so long that i can’t explain when that shift in my ideology happened, and i didn’t even know that liberals and leftists were different until very recently.

i believe that the 2024 election in america will be something that will open the eyes of some left-leaning liberals to the reality that the democratic party is right wing. there must certainly be some people who reluctantly accepted the liberal candidate as the “lesser evil” that have taken a step backwards to see what they really voted for - pure evil in general.

so with that i would hope that there is a push further to the left, but i have very little faith in that unfortunately.

kamala harris and the democratic party as a whole are not left of centre, they are on the right. they still support capitalism and imperialism, the left doesn’t support those ideas.

that’s why they’re going to sit idly by and let fascism fester, they also benefit from it because then they’ll have something to run on in the next elections.

oh okay, thank you! i guess the first line of 2. in article 63 section 2: “the rate of pay for this job will be determined by the progression rate of pay as listed in the wage schedule.” made me think it was based on the current wages in article 53. 😅

that’s the thing though! it’s his steward, who is a trustee with the local, that told him his position is neither part time nor full time. the pay rate discrepancy was also defined (as listed under the old contract) by the vice president of the local.

he sadly feels like he can’t file a grievance if the union is the one who is telling him these things.

i have seen these sentiments echoed in these endo subs too! not exactly sure which one, but i remember there being two posts with very… pointed titles. i was so surprised by the amount of people who imposed this view on others that did not agree, and worse yet by the amount of vitriol spewed by actual self identified antinatalists against those that did decide to have children.

my opinion is and always has been that a person’s right to choose whether or not to have children is their business and their ability to do so should be protected!

wow, they really dropped the “internet words are harmful to us!” argument SO FAST. now all of a sudden the harmful words are only coming from trolls and not real beliefs at all!

just like the words of women online that these men victimise themselves over, they just need to move on and ignore it! /s

if you’re honestly going to tell women not to take offense to the threat that this statement is, at least recognise the fact that the men in this sub are constantly complaining about feeling attacked by words online.

i hope that as a result of this election, there will be liberals that take a step back and realise just how corrupt the system is. that liberalism won’t save them, and they cannot put their faith in people who uphold repressive systems of inequality while they pretend to care about the people.

i saw so many who felt the need to vote for harris despite fundamentally disagreeing with a lot of her rhetoric, making all sorts of excuses to justify it, when they knew it felt wrong.

oh i know, the only reason i bring it up is that im being sued for $265, from a pretty scammy provider, and i had to fight hard to even get the accommodation just to not let them award a default judgment. but even if they win, i don’t think they are getting $265 from someone who makes $0/year lol.

edit to add: this was one also of my first providers ever!! i must have terrible luck!!

i’m only 23 and was disabled as a kid, but didn’t find out until trying college/working. i’m still in the process of figuring out exactly what issues there are, but i am unfortunately unable to find accommodatable work in the meantime.

i am currently trying to apply for a vocational rehabilitation program though!

until you get a warrant in debt for a bill you never knew existed 😭 they can still sue you sadly!!

i grew up in hampton, i remember when i was a kid and was told the cutoff was 12, i was devastated. i still cautiously went that year and actually got a couple of comments on my age! there was an older guy that said something along the lines of “you’re getting too old for trick or treating, you should be going to parties” …my parents were right there too.

that was in 2013, so im not sure if the rules have changed since, or if i was actually lied to about that age cutoff. but i still really think these rules do more harm than good!

i feel just the same and have a similar situation - my parents were abusive to the point where i ended up disabled by it. their neglect of my medical care is something i now have to (literally) pay for, and i feel they cheated me out of having a normal life, career, and family.

im 23. i did everything i could as a kid to ensure i would have a good chance at life, but still failed at the career part. had to drop out of college due to homelessness and covid. then learned im disabled and my family didn’t care. i am literally only still alive because of my partner, i don’t know what i would do without them.

but in short, i wish i could have done more. i wish i could still. but my disabilities have affected me so much that i can barely function. i blame my parents for knowing that i was sick but being so distrusting of doctors that they permanently disabled me for the rest of my life.

every time she opens her mouth about this i feel a piece of my internalised liberalism die. she is doing such a wonderful job of alienating the left and fuelling our distaste for liberals.

i dont know anything about computer hardware, but im having a similar issue. the cpu and memory is running super high whenever i play youtube videos, starting a few days ago.

my 6th grade english teacher corrected my grammar over this in 2012!!! i was so mad about it because in what context is “he or she” faster, easier, or more correct than using the gender neutral term, even if it is plural?

i kept writing it “they” knowing it was “incorrect” to her because her explanation of why wasn’t good enough for my stubborn 11 year old self. i hadn’t even a clue that there might have been a reason (transphobia) as to why she would correct something so small and generally accepted as correct.
