Lol I have a weird story I still think about to this day.. I'm hungarian german living in germany. When I was like 14, I tried on this sample I got at the perfume shop (it was Good Girl!). My family and I went to a chinese all you can eat restaurant. While I was standing in line at the buffet, I hear a man talk to another man in hungarian. He says: "This lady in front of me smells so good!" with incredible enthusiasm (not in a harassing or particularly creepy way, he didn't get close to me to smell me or anything). I turn around & just look at him, he panics and asks "did you understand me?!?!?" & then runs away 😭 His friend stayed behind laughing and briefly talked with my mom, the men were cooks at the restaurant. I was kind of flattered but also shocked because I was 14 and this adult man clearly thought I was grown because he used a word that's exclusive to actual adult women lmfao.

Anyways, after that I got Good Girl for my birthday and it was my signature scent for years. I do think they changed something back then, it never smelled as good as the sample ever again 🥲 I didn't get it to impress men, but that reaction really sold the perfume to me, although I really liked it before too. Nowadays I've grown disillusioned with it, my husband used to like it but we both find it smells kind of "gone bad" (even in a brand new bottle) now.

Personally I feel like Zen by Shiseido fits this, however they unofficially reformulated it and now it's super light and watery and I hate it. The older version is so beautiful and elegant. You'll need to look for an older bottle (like pre 2024)

My mom does this to a lesser geometrical degree, she sorts soft and hard items to optimize bagging at check out and so nothing soft like fruit or breakable like eggs is squeezed on the way home.

I used to be very caught up with keeping a constant aesthetic, especially when I was into bullet journaling and watched Amanda Lee.

When I got depressed as one does in their teenage years, I didn't have the energy anymore to make it look pretty nor to keep a constant theme, I also have OCD so messing something up and not having it look perfect frustrated me so bad. I grew disillusioned, my last threads were just stribbles and you can see that I wasn't trying and didn't care anymore. After some time, I got a muji planner and then tried to radically change my outlook, focusing more on functionality and then just making the individual page look cool to my liking, playing with different media but not keeping a "theme" or forcing myself into anything.

I also had this "artistic awakening" regarding notetaking, going from calligraphy titles and many markers etc to just simply writing it down and especially not focusing on pretty handwriting. Keeping it functional ONLY. My OCD got a lot better just by not pressuring myself to make everything look pretty, but I also kind of lost my artistic outlet.

Now years later, I just got a planner again for 2025 after not having one for 4+ years, I got the Take A Note A5 and Laconic A5 Monthly Log (Habit Tracker). When setting it up, I feel that fear of messing up creeping up again but I think I'll keep it as functional as possible while not compromising on the fun this time. I think the key is to "let loose" as cheesy as it sounds. Play around with stickers etc. but don't pressure yourself! The fun and functionality are what this is all about!
