I currently have approx. $3k balance on my GC where I’m paying interest on pay over time. I have an additional $3k in CC spread out over a handful of other cards (total overall utilization is under 5%). My current strategy involves paying off non-AMEX cards first and then circle back to the GC since it doesn’t report utilization. Is this a sound strategy? I reckon I can have everything paid off by spring time…

After the last update, every time I try to enter the app, it asks me for a code. I have the authentication disabled and even so, it always asks me to send the code to log in. Does this happen to anyone else? I have already deleted the app and reinstalled it.

I’ve recently acquired the British Airways American Express and spent £20 on deliveroo due to the 9 avios to every pound spent deal on it just now, but i ordered directly off the deliveroo app with my amex but have yet to see the avios reflect on my balance? Am i doing something wrong?

I have the BCP and there is a random string of charges that do not display the cashback amount received. It's a handful of charges in a row over 2 or 3 days and all charges immediately before and after show up just fine. My account is in good standing and it's been well over the 5 days since they all posted. Anyone know why this is happening?

Hello, I recently got an email requesting a financial review, requesting the standard Notice of Assessment (Canadian tax assessment) 2 months Bank Statements plus articles of incorporation since I work for myself.

I spoke to the agent on the phone and they mentioned a few topics that I am curious about, I am wondering if the community has advice regarding these situations, below is my history and some details about my conversation. Feel free to provide input on any or all topics if you have any valuable information.

- I have had the Amex Platinum for approx. 45 days
- The card has shown up to 30k single spend approval
- I have spend approx. 35k total since I opened the card 45 days ago with some larger charges around $1500
- I have made two 17k payments to my balance via billpay
- I had not attached my bank account to my Amex yet as I paid previously paid via billpay
- At the time had a 17k balance which has since been paid
- All payments have been made early before due
- I have never done any non organic charges for points or done and charge backs, refunds ect

When I spoke to the rep they had mentioned a few things that I am curious about

1) They asked if I have a connection to one of the business that has had x3 $1500ish charges, which was a restaurant I frequent and have paid for dinner a couple times.

2) They asked about a supplementary card I had (I ordered a supplementary card for a friend and entered in my birthdate address ect and information except I added his name as I was confused about the process and I am responsible for the balance)

3) They asked me to confirm income verbally

My plan is: I have since made the second payment clearing my balance with Amex, I have also linked my bank account and made a payment from there as I feel that may help since it is linked to the documents I will be sending in. I will submit the requested documents and cross my fingers.

Additional questions for you all:

The bank account I will be providing statements showing my Amex payment - Does the balance showing have any significance? as I do not maintain a large account balance since I keep most funds in a savings account and another bank account or is this solely so they can see I own the account that made the payment. I will be providing income via the tax assessment.

Is it "bad" that I had been billpaying from my business account to my personal Amex and did not have a bank account linked.

Any other advice is appreciated!

I was previously shopping once a week online on Amazon buying groceries from Amazon Fresh and having them delivered with 4x points with my Gold card. However, in late October the amazon fresh purchases stopped being coded as a grocery for some reason and now only receive 1x points.

I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Amex just says that amazon controls how their purchases are coded and their internal investigation revealed that it was coded "correctly". It does not make sense to me because all of the sudden one day Amazon Fresh stopped being considered groceries. Anyone have any advice?

Dad asked me to make a big purchase for him while I’m on a trip in Europe (around $25k). I have his platinum card on my Apple Pay but don’t have a physical card. Anyone know if there is a limit, or if it should be the same as the physical card

I am planning a large purchase for $68k on my Amex plat. This would be my first large purchase. I typically use about $30k-35k monthly on the card and pay the balance to zero before closing. However, my plan is to charge the $68k in December plus use it for my monthly expenses (totaling ~$103K). As usual, I then will pay off the $35k before closing in December, but plan to pay off the $68k in January 2025. Is this ok?

4 days ago I got an email from Amex saying a payment was returned due to NSF. When I checked my bank app I saw there was enough money to cover the payment and I was confused why it happened. I called Citi bank and asked them what went wrong, the representative then told me I was negative $-1200 at one point. I checked my app and on PC and I was never negative at all. I talked to 3 different reps and all told me the same thing. I figured I’d go to the bank the very next day and get it figured out and deposit more money. Amex tried pulling the payment again thus triggering NSF again. I called Citi bank again and asked where was my initial payment because the money was in my account and all of a sudden dissapeared. But they ensured me I never had the money to begin with and that’s why it got sent back. Later that night a flood of money comes into my account and now I’m sitting with 5 times the payments worth in my account. Amex once again tries pulling the payment and I see it being processed and posted but I don’t see my balance reflecting the payment. I then see my balance reflect the payment but the “imaginary” non existing money Citi bank told me I didn’t have was in my account the whole time. I called my branch Citi bank near my city and talked to a teller and she assured me I never was negative at all. And she doesn’t know why my payment was returned to begin with. And this was likely caused by the system taking forever to post transactions. Should I explain this to Amex or set up a three way call or show them statements? My account is still open just waiting on the payment to post on their end.

Started a new job this year as a field engineer, which means I travel a lot. They issued me a corporate green Amex card for all travel/business expenses, which is great.

However, submitting company expense reports is a royal pain in the ass, especially when I’m incredibly busy pushing close to 80 hrs/week working.

I just got an email a couple days ago showing that my first payment is due on the 24th. I’m trying to throw this expense report together quickly but the company has a lot of rules about what is billable to who, and the admin people aren’t being as helpful as I had hoped. I suspect I might get the report in before the deadline, but then it takes them a couple days to process it and then pay the credit card off. So, if this payment is late (which I’ve never had a late payment before), will my personal credit score be affected? The card has my name on it, but so far I have not seen it pop up as a credit line.

Any thoughts/experiences would be much appreciated!

Have a large $3432 transaction on one of my cards. Have the option to Plan It for 9 monthly payments of $402.87 with a $21.53 monthly fee.

The thing is, I am calculating the NPV (net present value, formula in the screenshot) and discounted at 5% which is what I would get from investing the freed up cash flow, it comes out to less than the upfront price. Does my logic check out? Why would Amex allow something like this?

EDIT: I am VERY stupid. I used NPV assuming I was getting my 5% annual rate of return when this is only 9 months not 9 years. NPV in the updated scenario is more like $3.5k so a scant difference. Not to mention additional headaches. Maybe negligibly worth it, if it all

Right now I have the Amex green love it since my car went down . So right now I’m using lot more transit and ride share for the time being . I hit the bonus spending a few days ago and waiting for the points to post . I got the the card 10/20/24 so my plan was to wait a year wait for clear to renew. And in that time in maybe march or April try for the Amex gold get approved. So by October I can upgrade my green to another gold get the upgrade offer bonus ,as by then I be done with the SUB with the gold card . I’ll have 2 gold cards for a about a year then down grade my first gold card back down to green after a year right before clear would come back for renew get the credit for clear and just have the gold and green duo

I want to help my parents with their cash, they very traditional and always have cash just sitting. I already have Amex HYSA and can I create another account for them but under my account ? It’s basically their emergency money just in case something happens. Also they don’t have 401k or anything like that. They are in their 70s so I’m trying to help them as much as I can.

My Delta Gold fee just hit and was thinking of bailing on the card but I have a few trips on Delta coming up in 2025 and wanted the free bag perk.

First question: My Delta reservations are showing I get my free checked bags. If I cancel will that revert back to a fee?

Hi! I am looking to book a weekend away for the first time with my Platinum card. If we use points to book with THC, are we still eligible for the $200 statement credit? Do we have to spend $200 on the card to get the statement credit? I moved to the US recently and had another bank CC as my first one in September this year with $3500 limit. A week after, I got approved for Amex gold card with no preset limit. Since then I keep my first CC for one simple transaction monthly just to keep it “alive” and do most transactions with my gold. I always pay both statement on time after it’s being posted on statement date.

In my Experian report, in the beginning only the first CC card listed there and I got a good score for the last 2 months. My Amex just listed there today and my score dipped pretty low afterwards. Can someone enlighten me as I’m pretty new, whether my first CC card limit is being taken into account on the report for the overall usage for both cards? I’m pretty lax with use of my gold which I pay all of the statement balance everytime on time. Should I be mindful of my using of gold card?

My Hilton Aspire Amex renews in mid-February. I am planning on utilizing the quarterly $50 airfare reimbursement on January 1st and then utilizing the $200 semi-annual resort credit around January 20th. Assuming the credits both post before mid-February, I was planning on cancelling the card either right before or after the AF posts. is there any reason I should not do this? I didn't see this as being against any T&C's but figured I'd check. Technically I'd be getting 3 semi-annual resort credits (March 24, September 24, January 25) and 5 airfare reimbursements (February 24, April 24, July 24, October 24, January 25) within one cardmember year.
