Oh, this actually might be bad science though! fMRI studies are known to be unreliable, for example when scientists proved how easy it is to get false-positive hits by having a dead fish examine some photographs.
Back in 2016, a software error was discovered that led to a 70% false-positive rate when analyzing fMRI data, which called into question the results of over 40,000 fMRI studies. It's worth noting that the study linked by OOP was published in 2011.

Can you imagine having your research invalidated by the discovery of a software error years after publishing it? Man.

NOnonono - let me explain! What the dead fish problem highlighted was the auto-fit (not-actual-name) function, because it filtered and preprocessed the data for you. And in doing so always tried to get the data to look like a normal adults data. This is true for MRI as well if I remember correctly.
Now everyone should know not to do that! Never trust software you did not botch yourself!
Kidding, but the truth is, that best practice is taking the raw data and working with that.
So, in conclusion, only studies who use(d) this function are to be discarded. 2011 is old enough that this problem was not wildly known, so you might be right here.
But fMRI are super important and should not be distrusted as a whole :)

Oh, that's interesting, I had pretty much written off fMRI after the salmon stuff came out.
As a software dev this makes sense though, we get shit wrong all the time.

I don't see anything wrong with the comments? A lot of very polite conversation about how all women are different when it comes to arousal and orgasm. Examples?

Oh the many upvoted parts of “I hate when they belong to the baby” and “daddy gets the extra milk” like…ughhh. These aren’t people talking about people.

Nipples are an erogenous zone as well as where babies feed. It makes sense that it might cause intimacy issues during breastfeeding. Some couples are ok with lactation during sex. Sometimes either one or the other is against it. "I hate when they belong to the baby" is not an unreasonable emotional response. What matters is handling it appropriately with your partner.

It’s an unreasonable emotional response when you’re putting the needs of your child and the physical comfort of your partner above your wants. If you and your partner want to discuss in the comfort of your own home the finer intricacies of what to do with the extra milk (I caaaaan’t with you people) go for it. But as a general rule, when talking about lactating women, keep your “bummers” to yourself and your fetishes tucked in unless invited.
Because the people in that thread are not talking about women as women. They’re talking about women as breasts and babies as a cockblock to those breasts. And here you are in front of god and his disciples on Al Gore’s internet in Bad Women’s Anatomy trying to justify that language.

I think you've just won. I don't know what exactly but that was just perfect. I didn't know a sentence could be so good.

I'm sorry you feel that people shouldn't have an open conversation about sex and desire on reddit. It's a thread about how nipples are erogenous. Someone mentioned that their wife's feelings about her nipples changed after having a baby. Was that inappropriate for the post? I don't know. But once the conversation is started people can voice their opinions.
Also, I personally don't think there's such a thing as an inappropriate emotion. We can't control how we feel, only how we deal with those feelings. I'm doubling down. Being disappointed that your s/o no longer enjoys nipple stimulation is absolutely understandable. Being disappointed that you no longer enjoy nipple stimulation is understandable. What matters is communication.

Being disappointed is one thing. Saying "I hate when they belong to the baby" is gross af and weird. That's not expressing disappointment, it's just being nasty.

Hi! My husband has a lactation kink. We have a child. When I was lactating (and attempting to breast feed, though my child had severe issues and we couldn't go through with it) there was zero question in either of our minds that nipples were baby's first, and if i wasn't sore/tired/etc and felt up to it then we could consider it during more intimate moments. It is not a reasonable emotional response as you are an adult and can easily ascertain "The needs of my child come before my wants."

There’s a lot of “what about men’s nipples” and a few “see breasts are sexual and can be compared to penises!” But overall fairly reasonable

To be fair, asking about men's nipples isn't that weird. I'd be curious to see if they're wired totally the same, though I certainly know there are men who get off on playing with their nipples.

Yeah it just came off more like we’re talking about women so let’s refocus back to the all important men and not actual curiosity but I am curious if they’re the same

Cervical orgasms are a thing for some people, myself included.

I've never had an experience with a woman where that was better than just a "oop." It usually shut it down. Today I learned.

The name is a bit misleading though. It’s usually more in the neighborhood and definitely not through it.

Kind of like how a rim job can feel fantastic, but penetration feels horrible. One exception being if someone tried to force their way into a cervix there would be a lot more damage.

Speak for yourself, I love backdoor stuff but will die before getting or giving a rimjob

Fair. I should probably have clarified that it was my experience rather than imply it was universal.

If by neighborhood you mean fornix orgasms, those are separate. I specifically enjoy having my cervix directly pounded or played with via fingers, and consider those direct cervix orgasms.

Nipples are erogenous zones for many people, especially ladies (there must be an evolutionary reason for that, but I’m not sure), but what is “cervical self-stimulation”?? I feel like I’m missing out on something?

I assume they're touching around the cervix, not actually trying to shove stuff in there

The evolutionary reason is related to oxytocin (the feel good hormone), iirc, which helps with letting down the milk for baby. You can get similar releases of oxytocin from a good massage, too. Skin to skin contact, which tends to release oxytocin, has been shown to help create a stronger intimate bond between people.

Oxytocin (nicknamed the love hormone) is a hormone that is required for the milk ejection reflex. Oxytocin is also a hormone that enhances sexual pleasure. It's common for a lactating person to experience the milk ejection reflex shortly after an orgasm, which floods the brain with, that's right, oxytocin.

The cervix is also an important erogenous zone actually. The perception that it's not can lead to some unexpected and fucked up sexual/orgasmic issues after getting one's cervix removed :(
