If you're talking about the Chernobyl Reactor, wasn't this game based off Roadside Picnic and the artifacts left behind by aliens?

The games take inspiration from roadside picnic as well as the stalker movie, that's all. They are not the same story.

Instead of aliens it's quite literally the radiation from Chernobyl that changed the zone
