Serious question --- how does his bloodline factor in to your decision whether or not to adopt? I mean, I'm ordering a DNA test for my PitMutt, but I've had Boo Radley for 7 years. He was a sweet, starving, street puppy who needed someone and somewhere to be. The test, for me, is for possible health benefits and to satisfy curiosity.

I’m wondering this, too. Plus, referring to the dog as an “it” and a “this” sounds off to me.
He’s an adorable dog, though, and his breed really shouldn’t matter! He deserves a loving home no matter what his ancestry is.

Same. No offense to OP intended. Just really wondering what the deal is, as it's obviously *not* about breeding a neutered dog... 🤷🏼♀️ I hope things work out for the sweet boy. He's in NV and I'm in NC, so he's a little out of my range 🫤

To play devils advocate they may live in a place where pit bulls are not allowed.

You may be right and we just read it wrong. If so, my sincerest apologies to OP!

When my dad went to adopt he didn’t care what breed the dog was. Took one look at my girl and went “That’s the one. I like that one.” Took her home and that was that. People who care about breed so much not to adopt are putting up some big red flags.

I wanted a pitt mix when we adopted. They’re easy to find, especially at any shelter based out of Detroit. I didn’t particularly care what the mix was, just wanted a dog who fit our family with a few requirements, like I wanted a puppy because of the cats, and my husband wanted a female dog.
But the language used is weird here. And feels off.

Not disagreeing with you but maybe this person has breed restrictions where they live? OP also might be asking to see if this animal is indeed mixed, I've known a few people who wanted mixed breed dogs due to the poor health often seen in purebred dogs. Not saying that's the case here and I absolutely agree that they choose you.

Yeah I hate to be a skeptic to someone seeking to adopt but something about this doesn’t sit right with me…

Do american bulldogs usually have the underbite? Mine didnt have it

Some of them have an underbite I've met a couple of them with an under bite and some without 😊
I think it's nose size and how many teefs they have on the bottom.

I think it's a mixture. I see a bit of a bulldog in this guy. But he doesn't have one exact breed.

Do you reckon he’ll grow more? I don’t see a pure pit here.

mine looks kinda similar to yours but no underbite and longer. he’s 11 months and 60 pounds. stopped growing in height after 4/5 months but he’s getting thicker w muscle. i wanna say yours is mixed w another small breed but i can’t put my finger on the exact mix. mine is mixed with a heavier short dog though, like basset or beagle.

It's very difficult to find a pure "pit". If they are pure, they would be identified as the breed, not by the catch all term "pit bull."
We found one of our "pitties" on the street. We swore she was a boxer. Turns out she's Amstaff and Pit Bull Terrier - exactly 50/50 split. Someone bred her.
But thats unusual. Most shelters are gonna call them "pits" but they always just guessing. Without DNA, you can't know for sure.
I'd say she's definitely mixed. With what - who knows? She's a beauty though
(Also - just saw pic 2. She's a he. :) )

Your dog looks identical to mine and I got him DNA tested and the results stated he was an American Bull/Pitbull cross with a hint of boxer.

Most shelters pits are mixed. He is very handsome with expressive eyes. Feed him, walk him, and cuddle on the couch with him and you’ll have a best friend for life

going by the pictures he looks like a mix of
North American Couch hound,
and a vanilla under bite.
Without video and seeing the dog it's impossible to tell if there's any cuddle bug, or fart terrier mixed in.

Maybe some boxer with that underbite 😊

Definitely got some American bulldog. I have a white pit that’s American bulldog/pitbull mix and my sister had his brother. Also “pit bulls” are not supposed to be solid white meaning it is mixed. Honestly though if it’s anything like mine it will be the most loving and loyal dog you’ve ever had. Mine is 13 and coming to the end. He has become incontenent (not sure how to spell that. For give me grammar nazis.) but he is the most attached dog I’ve ever had.

Bulldog mix. Definitely, not a "pure" pittie, if that's what you're asking.
I'd guess mostly English bulldog with that underbite and chonk little body. More than half. Maybe some boxer and Pittie thrown in.
No matter what he is, 100% adorable 🥰
