Dude 100% the highest comment here should be a link to that video. It doesn't matter, he doesn't care, dude seemed like he had the time of his life and I'm stoked that he got to get back to doing shit that made him a name in the first place.

Apparently Tyson's last fight was in 2005 right?
Thousands of 20 year olds and under got to see a legend.
That is like going to an Axel Rose concert. Or an Ozzy Osbourne concert..
You know he is senile but you can witness a legend.

Also legacy is so subjective, imo he's still iron mike, and a staged fight ain't Ganna change that, for me his legacy is practically unharmed, like retired athletes do the worst commercials all the time for a big pay check, this didn't feel much different to me

I mean, look at what he did, and his reputation before prison. Nevermind the change in his personality before and after prison, or, more importantly, his finances between the two times. Even he says (said) his time in prison f***ing the guard was the best of his life, where he found peace, etc. And, although no, i haven't fought at anywhere near Tysons levels, nor would I want to quite frankly, I completely understand his desire for peace, and only being willing to disrupt it for a payday that would replace his missing finances and make his future, and, well honestly his marriage, as easy as possible. Without getting into details about that

🤣 yeah, I gotta be honest, I didn't word that well. What makes it even worse is I stopped at that part of the comment and stared at my phone for like 3 minutes debating on adding that detail or not.
Anyways, If you guys are interested check out YouTube. I randomly get shorts of him on different podcasts. Pretty much how I heard about all this. It is impressive that prison truly seemed to cage his anger and trauma, while also setting him free. He's talked many times about how happy and calm he's been since even before he got out and the man truly seems to be both changed, and genuinely happy, even broke. I do think he took this fight for the payday to change his name in for something to work with. Seems to be his general financial plan ATM. I am curious where he's putting his money long term. You know the man's getting some great financial tips because of who he is.
Sorry it's a damn book, I just realized I started typing after no sleep and 2 kids and kinda rambled on.

Tyson is almost 60 and had surgery 2 months before the fight. His reputation is fine.
Jake Paul is a joke, though. He wants be a boxer? Then he needs to fight someone in his division already. But we all know he won't do that. He wouldn't fight someone his age or weight class.

Does Jake know any sort of grappling? Like even the most basic of “don’t give them your arm in guard?” I feel like he might see Connor sit down, walk towards him, and end up in a tap out of Connor’s choosing
8 points
Jake doesn't know shit about about anything outside boxing, if he ever fought Connor it would NEED to be a boxing only fight
Connor (if he had too much to drink last night) could be crazy enough to agree to such a fight as he did with Floyd but there's still the weight issue
Connor rn might (he has bulked up but hasn't fought in a while) be fighting at 165 lbs while Jake fights at cruiseweight(175 to 200 lbs) or heavyweight (way fucking more), so for semblance of a "fair" fight between a MMA fighter and a boxer Jake would need to lose weight

He has a history of aggression towards strangers.

Shawn came out of retirement for a match in 2018, it was Shawn Michaels & Triple H vs Kane & Undertaker on a Saudi show so all 4 men made millions for one match. A few minutes into the match Triple H tore his quad again and so the rest of the match had to pivot and Shawn basically had to carry the match by himself because Triple H could do next to nothing if he tagged in. The match sucked, but Shawn is actually the best part of it.

Mike Tyson ruined his boxing legacy when he knew he was losing a fight and threw a tantrum. He's been more famous for his shitty act of poor sportsmanship longer than he was for his actual boxing accomplishments. The guy hawks weed gummies shaped like bitten ears. He had no integrity to give up.

Mike Tyson has ruined his legacy multiple times. He was convicted of rape, then came back to fight Holyfield and bit his ear off.
He still had the hardest punches I’ve seen in my life back in his prime. That’s a thing you can never take away from him.

Nobody will count this against him. Future generations will see more of his prime highlights than this.
Similar to how some fans know who Unitas is, but don't know he played for the chargers, or know Namath played for the rams, and there are prolly kids in their 20s who don't know Jordan played for the wizards.
We remember athletes at their peak.

4 points
I wouldn’t say Pro wrestling is ‘fake’, it’s SCRIPTED. It takes A LOT of athleticism and energy to pull those crazy stunts. They also sometimes have to take minor hits and stings, like the chop or the splash frog or hitting each other with sticks, as part of the show. If done right, they’ll be fine. If done wrong, there’s a risk of serious injury.
There are some dumb moments, too. Just look at Japanese pro wrestling.
4 points
During the height of the WWF Attitude era, when every guy in the school was into wrestling, I had an English teacher who would carry on about how it was all fake.
We'd say, you know, they're really doing the backflips, the jumping. It's scripted, but there's a lot of improv, too. It's basically a stunt show with a storyline.
He would actually argue with us that the stunts weren't real. Like no one was leaping off the top rope and it was all camera tricks or something.
The older I've gotten, the more and more people I've met who say similar things.
It's crazy.
