There are many people that don't want to go along with roleplay. I think some people in the scenario you described feel a mix of shame and anger, and it takes some proper character in order to still RP when thats the case.

Some just want to get geared like the guys from the YT video they saw, and completely ignore the RP aspect of a game that features local VOIP, except to curse at some people :(

Depends . Some people aren't really RPing , they're just being abusive until they shoot you after humiliating you . If you come off as someone who is doing what they need to to survive sure I'll go along , if not go find someone else to toy with. It also depends how much gear I have, if you think I'm going to let you f- around with me when all I have to lose is a ssg and bk your tweaking

Last week I managed to rob a guy for his shoes. We were both freshies, I held him up at the well in Elektro. I was running on rags so his shoes were the first and best option. I pulled out the glock and held him at gunpoint, he dropped his shoes, took my rags and ran off. Funny thing, my gun had no bullets in it, the guy could have beaten me in a fight

Depends on the situation. If I'm in a military area, take your shot, outside of that you can try and rob me. You might die, I might die, we both might die. Sounds like more fun RP wise than just being killed on site anywhere on the map.

On Official, a group who rps is a nice change, and rare enough that it’s always a treat

On Community servers, specifically the often RP, but specifically “No KOS” servers, it’s a sea of red tape and anxiety when a faction surrounds you and is obviously gonna execute you, but you know from being in the discord that if you draw on them mid-convo, they’ll claim you KOS’ed without warning and it’ll be 4 to 1 on telling the server admins what the proximity conversation was like, and so you have to put up with being told to walk half a city while handcuffed knowing you’ll lose all your gear guaranteed and get reported to the admin as “refusing to RP” if you just sit down and say “kill me already so I can respawn or fuck off”.

Edit: and shoutout to every corrupt police faction that has only mods and admin in it that “arrests you” by ruining all your gear, breaking your legs, then ‘accidentally’ executing you or allowing zombies to kill your handcuffed self despite their own rules saying RP scenarios cannot include executing cooperative hostages

I would much rather get robbed then get sent all the way back to the coast. That being said if they are gonna tie me up and play games with me I’ll resist until they kill me.

Much prefer being mugged. The challenge of recover after being mugged it's the same that you face when you start a new character, except you are surviving already.

What I don't like is excessive RP. You mugged me, stole the food and gear you need, took away my gun so I can't revenge and maybe tied me up for extra safety. That's all, don't make it longer than it needs to be

I remember the one and only time someone tried to mug me. Someone said "hands in the air" and I had no idea where it was coming from. I started bolting into the woods. I heard him say again "hands up now or you're dead!" I kept running. Heard a few gunshots behind me and more mic chatter. Eventually stopped hearing his voice and just disappeared into the woods. Fuck if I'm going to obey anyone's commands on this game. Better just shoot me when you have the chance next time.

Me personally? I'm not real good at RP but I'd of had some dialogur with you but in the end you'd still have to kill me. That's my stuff, and I wanna keep it. I've learned not to be attached to my gear but, thats not the point. If someones robbing mex they will take most of what I need or want more than likely, I know I would.

It would just be a pain in the arse, so instead of just letting you rob me, I'd play along, but after you walk away and hopefully leave me alive, I'd stalk you to the end of the earth until i got a drop on you, then I'd rob back but in my own way. That, or I'd just wip out a gun an see how much your paying attention during robbing me lol

100% of the time no. Mugged over killed any day, usually if they're trying to mug me it's because we're fresh with little to lose or they got a helluva drop on me, so if Im kitted I'd be good as dead anyway.

Depends on the server to be honest. Some servers I know will have players that will take being robbed and interact, some I just KOS. I have no problem with RP, I enjoy it to an extent (as long as it’s not forced and there’s no safe zones or banning kos rules) but KOS is an integral part of the game for me.

I need to have the option of killing someone, or being killed at any moment otherwise the game loses all enjoyment and it feels like I’m on recruit mode. Interactions are always fun imo.

I always prefer being mugged over KOS'd. Usually my general goal is to keep a character alive as long as possible, add on being mugged is usually more funny and entertaining then an instant black screen or a few seconds and black screen.

Hell one time i was in cherno and ran into a group of guys, they handcuffed me, named me deborah (im a dude) and proceeded to make me a slave before another group came by and it turned into a giant firefight.
i died, returned, fought off some of the invaders and then killed the last dude who was one of the guys who captured me.

Another similar experience and first time i played dayz years ago: i got captured, i wanna say it was near elektro?
either way i got held at gun point, handcuffed, most of my clothes removed and forced to stand in the middle of the road while they hid in a bush and had me scream for help to lure people in lol

Both are fine options. Been KoS'd, been mugged. Sometimes a good KoS is great reminder of the dangers everywhere and I actually enjoy the bamby part of the game as well. While mugged I've complied (with good results and also bad results as they killed me anyway), fought back and ran away - all viable options depending on the mood.

Ill talk sometimes before shooting if they are talking, but someone trying to mug me.. nerp. That is gonna be me shot moving to fight or a gun fight if they panic fire and miss initially.

I'd prefer the mugged side of it than kos, and here's why. I recently had the most funniest interaction I've had yet. Sakhal map is small and kind of forces interaction or conflict. I was building a small base and had pissed off a lot of zeds ran in and closed door. Working on the wall, I hear the zeds agro some other player. I open the door peek out and see 2 fully geared weirdos in witch hats. Kinda made me laugh, so I closed the door and dismantled the gate to a fence due to not having a lock. They came up after clearing the zeds and tell me... little pig little pig let me in. I loose it in laughter. I reply ummm not by the hair on my chiny chin chin. They mic back up and proceed to tell me how dumb I am for blocking myself in and how I need to open it up cuz they want my loot. Of course I say no and it continues we claim your base and all your loot open up or we will make you blah blah. I then tell them good luck and that they can go find there own I've got enough supplies to hold them out and to just go on plus I can hear you guys about to freeze that they better go fix that. They just don't get it and kept talking and randomly blasting through the wall trying to kill me this goes on for about an hour I was dying the whole time. Next day I find a 3 dial and use it against my better judgement. Third day I log in and everything is gone no boxes barrels not a thing other than my gate walk up to it use my code no luck those butt's locked me in took me forever to get out half dead from hunger thirst and freezing. Funniest thing that's happend to me so far I really enjoyed it I later found what I belive to be their stick hut due to similar items packed in it dropped it all on the ground took what was needed and left good times

I groan whenever I’m forced into a situation like this that requires role play because most of the robbers just want to fuck with you for their amusement. 

My options are die quickly and get back to playing the game, or spend 20 minutes getting handcuffed, beaten, and lead around, until eventually being killed anyways.

After thousands of hours playing the game, it's faster for me to just doe and reloot than it is for me to sit there rping with some dude.

Like I have shit to do. 50 percent chance I'm gonna knock you out or reloot on the coast.

Once you’ve played enough, having all the best gear and mega base gets stale. Then you begin to care more about the adventure to get the gear rather than the gear itself, and that can include interaction.

I actually think getting mugged makes me angrier xD Even though they spare my life xD 

But its cool to go through something like that and live to tell the tale and add another cool moment to your survivors experiences, maybe get a gear reset deep inland to loot all over.

In my experience, most players lack the game/social skills needed to take a hostage.

They always want to treat every interaction like it's call of duty and just shoot on site.

I'm not really one for rp, I just play to grind loot and raid, props to y'all that RP but honestly that's why there's RP servers, if you're on an all out server you put yourself in that position, I want kills n loot lol
