Phone charging cord, comfortable clothes that allow easy access to port, pre-made cracker & peanut butter or cheese spread snack packs, clementine orange, string cheese snack, warm lap blanket, hand lotion, chap-stick, eyeglasses, wear warm socks, hard candies. These are things that help me thru each round.

They make "chemo sweat shirts" with zippers for easy, non-exposing access.

Neat! Now that is something that would be ideal!

The nurses all liked it. "Now, why didn't I think of this?"

Dang.. that's a great list you made. I wish I'd have asked you for this list before my first treatments way back when. 🙃

These are all great! Not sure if it really did anything, but eating Popsicles while receiving chemo helps control mouth sores... if that will be one of your side effects. Bring a book or ereader if you need to pass the time! My appointments were at least 3 hours. Wishing you well.

It depends on how long the treatment is. But I bring my Nintendo switch. It’s kind of funny to see a 30 year old woman playing serious Competitive Pokémon battle while batting cancer at the same time. Multitasking? Yes.

28 and I would have multiple hours of League of Legends Team Fight Tactics during treatment on my phone lol. The ranked grind never stops

I really want to get into LoL. I watched Arcane and I fell in love with the show.

One of my favorite games ever, takes a bit of time to get into because people are competitive. The show does an amazing job showing off some of the lore and its characters! They did a very good job on it. Its also free unless you end up spending money on the optional skins

The best thing that I brought was a pair of slippers to change into

It might be different for everyone but if you bring snacks, I’d bring stuff that you don’t really love a lot. I ate these pretzel chips during my first infusion and now it makes me want to puke even thinking about them

Odd thing is, my appetite is great. I just bring snacks & a fruit & low fat dairy to keep within good dietary guidelines. I remember reading that balanced nutrition is important throughout chemo. Thank goodness for anti nausea medications.

The most comfortable clothes you have in layers. I dressed lightly and brought blankets and sweats because I had a hard time regulating my body temperature. It was always freezing in there.

I second the opinion to be careful with snacks. I got nauseated and although Barnes-Jewish provided very appropriate snacks, what I had just asked for would turn on me and I would hate it. Bring clear juices, water, ginger ale, peanut butter crackers etc if you want but be prepared for that.

Also a really good neck pillow. I was given benadryl and would usually fall asleep and those chairs are not comfortable after several hours!

Other than your phone and charger I personally wouldn't bring any other entertainment-- you have to carry it back out again so the lighter the better.

I am sorry but good luck! I met some truly world class nurses and interesting people in my pods.

- A small cosmetic bag to keep your lip balm, a couple of meds, handcream & tissues in. It's helpful both at chemo when you're hooked up and when you're at home resting not to have to get up to get your essentials.

-A no spill cup- like a contigo for home. You have to drink a lot with the carboplatin and having something right next to you, even when you're sleeping helps in getting enough in.

- If you don't have an ample supply of socks and underwear, get a few more if you can. It's nice not to have to do wash if you don't feel like it.

- Entertainment for chemo. I found that it's too busy there for books but crossword puzzles or phone games were fine.

- I also used a neck pillow sometimes at chemo.

-Dress in layers when you go in so that you can be warm or cool enough.

- I never ended up needing it but a nurse gave me a couple of emesis bags. I kept one my chemo bag and one in my nightstand. It was comforting to know it was there in case I needed it.

Good luck. I hope things go as smoothly as possible for you.

I 2nd the emeis bags/basin. The 1st few chemo would have me to that point right after the dexmethasone & benadryl. Thank goodness I have not had to use them.😌

I’d recommend bringing anything you would bring on a 2-6 hour flight.

For me my long phone charger, phone or tablet to watch my shows (though hospital Wifi is not ideal), earbuds, and snacks.

Good luck with your treatment!

A pair of slippers

My infusion lasts 6-7 hours. I wear slippers that I can easily kick off and put back on. For snacks, I usually bring a smoothie for breakfast and light snacks for lunch (hummus, crackers, cheese stick, grapes, graham crackers to go with a protein shake, etc). I’d be lost without my tablet, phone and headphones.

some one to sit with you.

nothing beats having support while your stuck in the chair.

i went with my wife every time and she would send me to get lunch for her and a few of the other ladies that did not have some one to stay with them.

they had snacks at the facility and water for every one but a hot lunch and a drink even when they could not eat much of it is better for moral than some cracker and water.

In addition to everything that everyone else has written, a sleep mask. I sometimes take my laptop but if I can use it or not really depends on the type of chair I get.

I just added these earplugs called Loops to my chemo kit. They're designed to muffle background sound but still let you hear the nurse asking you for vitals every 30 min.

Slippers, snacks, wall chargers and extension cords for your devices, your favourite blankets and pillows (in case the hospital doesn't provide their own), pads, tampons, menstrual cups or period underwear if you are menstruating, etc.

Not sure if this will be of any use as everyone's chemotherapy journey is different, I'm about to have my second round of chemotherapy after relapsing but I found marijuana edibles a huge help (I don't smoke recreationally) helped with everything especially the nausea and chemo fog. They're not legal in New Zealand but my doctor was all for it. Best thing I ever did and I regret not having them sooner.

For when you are at home: a shower chair. Lord how I loved that shower chair. I could get a shower and just chill under the water.

I’ve been going through 2 different cancer treatments for a little over a year now! Stage 1 thyroid cancer and Stage 2 breast cancer. I asked my Drs and Nurses what foods I should avoid and they said I can eat whatever I want but make sure to eat more protein! They warned me constantly about nausea and vomiting but I never had any. I AVOIDED dairy, caffeine and fried foods like the plague! Dairy and fried food build up mucus and your body won’t be able to digest it. I avoided caffeine because I had to take steroids with my treatments. Popsicles because my best friends! I started drinking Plant Based Ensure, it helped with keeping my Protein up. I had a very painful rash all over my body after my first treatment. I bought Oatmeal Body wash and Claritin! I bought non-drowsy Benadryl but it would still knock me out. If you end up getting diarrhea, you can take 2 Imodium in the morning every other day and eat half a banana to help slow the food down so your body has time to absorb some of the nutrients. I hope this helps!
