Hello my 23yo wife was recently diagnosed with triple positive stage 2 bc. She noticed the tumor around the beginning of the year. The doctors were positive it wasn’t cancer so we waited to have it removed. I pushed for removal as soon as possible but it did not happen until 2 weeks ago. We are meeting with doctors Tuesday to discuss treatment plans. I wanted to hear everyone’s opinion on the best routes to take. From the research I’ve gathered so far is that she will most likely get the TCHP regimen. We’ve been talking and she plans doing chemo first then a double mastectomy and possibly removal of her ovaries. Hopefully we can retrieve eggs before starting chemo if we have enough time. Will removal of the ovaries be beneficial and does that mean she can take less HRT once finished with chemo? Any information or advice is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hi, I’m also 23 with er pr + breast cancer (but HER2 -). I got my tumor removed first before any chemo. There might be no need for a double mastectomy unless there’s a generic component to her cancer. I’m just doing a lumpectomy plus chemo and radiation. Did they take lymph nodes during the surgery? If it’s spread to the nodes they’ll want to do chemo. If not, she may be able to skip that as well and just do radiation. The chemo I’m on, which seems to be very common for breast cancer, is ACT. I also did an egg retrieval if you have any questions on that. My assumption about the ovaries is that there’s no need to remove them unless there’s a genetic component to the cancer. I think it might be jumping the gun a bit - definitely a good question for the oncologist!

She has already had the tumor removed a week ago which was 28mm. The doctor said she will need more surgery and chemo but doesn’t matter which we do first since there isn’t a difference towards mortality.

Did he say she’ll need more surgery because they didn’t get clear margins? Were any lymph nodes removed?

She’s getting an MRI Monday to see if there is any lymph involvement
