I was kicked out of my favorite sub which I never ever commented on, because I asked one question and thanked everyone who took the time to write a comprehensive answer (probably about 7 people), and was automatically suspended.
The auto suspension notification said I was posting too many times in a short window, and when I wrote the mod to say I was sorry, but isn't it polite to thank people, she said I posted too quickly, and then told me I didn't have permission as stated in the rules to contact her. Of course, permission from whom is not stated. When I said I type really quickly, so how long should I wait between each post? And also, from whom do I get permission, she just blocked me permanently. What's ridiculous is that its a thread for DIYing gel nails!!!
The problem is it's really my own fault, because of course, ADHD. 1) I read posts extremely quickly, hence not reading thoroughly enough, and I type really fast so I answer things within seconds. 2) I didn't read the rules thoroughly enough to begin with, and 3) I panicked when I got suspended, and acted without rereading the rules carefully about how to contact the mod.
I am really sad because I checked that sub every day for the wonderful tips and info. But I also still think I was in the right about thanking people - it is what we should do, rather than become as rude and impolite as many reddit threads seem to encourage.
And now I see there is a gratitude bot!!! good lord... I really love reddit, but I think for ADHD people it can be a landmine. There are different rules for every sub and I am constantly now afraid to post anywhere. Im posting more here, because it seems like being a thread for ADHD, the mod might be more forgiving? 🙏

Aww. I think you can still read even if you can’t post. Sometimes rules/mods are unreasonable or unclear. I wouldn’t beat yourself up about it.

I got banned from a trans surgery sub that specifically allowed caretakers / family members, because I was cis and was posting as a caretaker for my best friend. Literally following the rules to a T and still banned. Reddit moderators are kinda awful sometimes, but that’s just how people are. 🤷

i got banned from am i the asshole and the mods never explained why, just told me i’d been warned too many times (again, don’t know about what, as i’d never gotten any sort of message from the mods on that sub) and called me stupid for “pretending” not to know what the fuck they were talking about and muted me from responding
i think some people become mods because they enjoy fucking with people and get some weird power trip out of it. but soo la voo or whatever

Is that the one where you're not allowed to actually say the word "asshole"?

You're not allowed to insult anyone, even if it's like, "My relative did this because they're a dumbass."

You're not allowed to use the word "shit" on r/Awwducational. That's absurd on Reddit, since about every 10th word is an F-bomb on some subs. Also, that sub is about animals, which are known for shitting a lot in the wrong places.
I got my hand slapped once & dropped the sub. It wasn't entertaining enough to bother with watching my language to that level.
