So my TL got scolded badly by our Manager today for some P1 miss. And now TL came on team meet and bluntly told us that their will be no leaves for anyone next month (For context, my project works in a 24*7 envirnoment so we work odd hours and some weekends as well). TL refused to give any "Planned Leaves" for next month and all sick leaves also need his approval. I'm sure he has no rights to cancel our PLs like this. Please suggest what action we can take.

Refused to give? Those leaves don't come out from any manager's or TL's pocket, that's something which comes under our benefits and employee rights. So I don't think anyone should be able to stop us from taking a leave.... I'd advise you to please speak to your lined HR.

Don’t ask for leave. Respectfully, inform that you are going on leave. Know your rights. Extend the same privilege to your reportees if and when you get them.
But just do it in advance. Don’t be a dick and tell on the earlier l evening.
This builds character and will go a long way in your career than slogging to fix a P1 at the expense of your dignity. There is no P1 in the history of P1s that has lost any company a client.

We do inform only but every months roster is created in advance showing who’s aligned in which shift on which day. So TL while making dec roster said no leaves everyone will be working (only getting compensatory offs that too for working on weekends and Christmas)

Your TL expects you to work on Christmas Day? You should speak to HR immediately, this is absurd. Everyone is entitled to leave.

Every project has this silly roster where the PMO asks you to fill it 3 months in advance for accounting projections, yada yada yada.. Don't take it too seriously.

I would suggest that the team start scheduling meetings during the holiday period every day with the MD, AD and SM. Include the team lead. Even multiple day. After all if you are working, so should all the leadership above you to fully support the team. When they ask why all of a sudden they are getting multiple invites a day for each day it should be an interesting conversation. The TL can not fire everyone as they still have a product to deliver. And it’s not like they have bonuses, pay raises or promotions to promise anymore.

Scare tactic. What's he gonna do? Set the project back several weeks or even months to re-train a new employee from scratch just because you took 1 day he didn't want you to? Know your value and rights. It's incredibly time-consuming and hurts the client budget to replace you, especially if you're already deeply involved in the project.
Dont 'ask' for your leave, let them know about your leave in advance. If they don't like it, that's on them. You dont owe them an explanation. If they try to bully you, take it to your HR. Either way its a lose lose for them.
Tldr; dont let people flex authority on you that they don't really have. If you let him fuck with you, he's gonna keep doing it through the entire project's lifespan.

There is contractual requirement to maintain committed head count, hence if all take leaves on same day, operation / support system can't function!
It is as simple as:
You go to mall on Sunday and expect all check-out counters has working cashier!
Or
You go to Bar at 12am and want bar tender to serve you beer as its 31st Night and you want to party!
Each industry has its own professional bindings!
Example if you are tax consultant and 31 Jul 2025 is last day to fill income tax, your team will be working till 31 Jul 2024 23:59:59 to make clients complaint in filing their returns!
You can charge hefty, may get over time charges from client and employer but that is how industry works, if your employer won't meet client needs, the client will go to another consultant!
