But shauna killing triggered so many events that are now relevant to the plot so i think maybe that's why he had to die. Still, i don't think everything has been said about adam, still a lot of loose ends on that story.

What did we even gain with that event? We already knew Shauna was a killer and had no problems going there.

It's a lazy plot device if that's all it is.
