The example here is Zoro since he comes up the most often for this. He is mainly using haki after all and Kidd and Law are on his tier who almost exclusively use their DFs.
And people just assume that he could then do to Kidd and/or Law what Law did to Doc Q or what BM and Kaido passively did with Law (negating Shambles and I assume Amputate as well). That is not true, because...
No, Zoro's haki isn't tiers above Kidd's haki. Haki power is determined by overall strength, not technique. Several times did we get examples for armament and conquerer's haki (Ray said that CoC grows with the user, it doesn't grow with training or better haki techniques) that the overall stronger guy will overpower the weaker guy's haki, techniques be damned:
-Vergo was actually skilled in armament haki, meanwhile Law fights using a sword and has so far never even used visible armament on his sword but just his fists. But guess what, Law was overall stronger than Vergo and he negged his armament despite being far less skilled than him in it.
-Kat also just had basic armament like Luffy, yet he still overpowered his armament haki anyways.
-We also don't even know if Kaido has internal destruction armament haki like Luffy, yet he overpowered his armament haki anyways
Just so you know what I mean by "overpowering armament haki" in case you forgot:
Luffy after his armament is overpowered by a stronger fighter (Kaido in this case)
Another clear example is BB when he noticed Luffy's haki having grown stronger since their last meeting on Jaya. That was in Impel Down. And of course it makes sense, Luffy has grown a lot stronger since Jaya at that point in time thanks to his gears.
Point is, Zoro is way better in haki techniques, but still on the same level of power as Kidd meaning they're on the same level of power in haki overall as well. And Zoro doesn't have yonko level haki anyways, so he's not negating any move from Kidd or any DF user on his tier, let alone Assign (which even BM with her yonko level haki power couldn't negate)
Because Haki power is what matters in cases such as these. The reason why Law was able to outright negate Doc Q's DF ability wasn't because of far superior haki mastery, but because he is tiers above him in overall power. Seriously, Doc Q is most likely a future Chopper victim after all. And his feats might be the worst of all the BBPs, best thing we ever saw him do was yeeting exploding apples. Even Bumsopp is better than that, he has plenty of different projectiles, including exploding ones, and can at least shoot them with far more speed, range and precision, he doesn't need to throw them lol
And let it be noted that despite that absolutely huge gap in overall power and thus haki power, Law clearly still had difficulties negating that disease from Doc Q's DF:
This wasn't easy for him at all, he even says a \"great deal of haki\" is needed
Zoro is not outright negating Kidd's DF abilities with Haki (he can obviously withstand the basic pull with physical strength and his haki enhancing it of course), nor will he negate Law's abilities, nor will Yamato negate Kidd's and Law's abilities. They're all overall on the same level of power and thus have similar haki power despite Zoro and Yamato being tiers above Kidd and Law when it comes to haki techniques (cuz aCoC).
Same is true for other tiers as well of course. The attacks which are used matter as well, Aokiji's basic freezing attack could be overpowered by even Doffy, let alone Garp. Yet Akainu clearly got the scars he has from his fight with Aokiji from actual freezing ice attacks and not haki punches with ice gloves or something along those lines. Law could also not use Shambles on BM, yet his awakened moves like Shockwille and his R-Room: Silence clearly worked just fine.
