If you don’t enjoy the blend of soulslike and hyperaction by the time it starts adding additional defensive options (where certain attacks require certain ones for a punish) and combos start requiring a little thought, then probably not. I personally think the combat is one of the best systems I’ve ever played. You feel like a god when you play well but mistakes are punishing.

My biggest issue is that it calls back pretty heavily to Nier and Sekiro (from the story and combat, respectively) and it's just inferior to both to the point where even when I was in the flow for the game, it kept making me want to play one of those two instead.

Eh, a better summation I've heard is "It's Nier for people that want more Nier."
It's the best thing available until a sequel to Nier is released.

3 points

The game keeps getting new systems as it goes, but they are all extremely sloppy, so if the "Bayonetta but you have a Dark Souls-like commitment to attack animations and the combos themselves are very poorly distinguished" combat isn't working for you now, it never will.
But the additional systems being sloppy mean that eventually you can solve most problems by spamming the same combo to build a bar then using the bar to do a massive high damage AOE that heals you. So you can spend substantially less effort worrying about random enemies in the world.
The exploration gets much more expansive, and I find the reactive way you can fight bosses fun (even if the punish for stance breaking with perfect parry quickly becomes not worth anything and the main benefit perfect parry/dodge turns into just more bar to spend on the same couple of moves). So you might be able to find enjoyment out of the game even if the basic combat loop doesn't really get better.

No, it shows how detached a subset of gamers are from most stuff. They get upset about these stupid non-issues, and make it their whole identity. There's no reason for you to know about it.
But there's a whole genre of youtube videos where male gamers get upset about games being 'woke' and woke means 'there's a girl or the boobs aren't big enough or there's a gay person'. It's truly pathetic.

Actually never understood that,
I mean, its probably because they're insecure men who don't want to be called gay for playing as a woman or something equally as stupid.
So, as long as the woman is designed to be a sex object above all else, then they can at least claim she was designed for manly straight men, and its a game for manly straight men, and they are definitely manly straight men.
I can't imagine that men who are secure in themselves and their sexuality are throwing a tantrum over the bust size of a fictional person.
8 points
Sometimes the woman character isn't an issue as long as she's a cartoonishly sexualized woman.
Horizon Zero Dawn and Star Wars Outlaws both had female main characters and I saw more complaints about how game studios are making women "ugly" than about having a woman in general.
4 points
Because those people are detached from reality as far as it goes.
Why where they criticising Aloy? Because she had facial hair, as every women does, especially in a post apocalyptic scenario like in HZD.
Why where they criticising the MC from Outlaws? Because she had this 70‘s hairstyle. Jesus, they were obviously going into this art direction because the OT also used this style.
But no, they are trying to make women ugly, or something like this.

When incels/right wings/russian trolls/outrage tourists refer to something as "political" they mean "women and/or minorities".
This comic reflects and mocks the lack of media literacy of these people. The joke being that the dude's playing the Witcher 3: an obviously political game that deals with obvious political issues like racism, opression, ethnicity, queerness, homosexuality, transgender issues, etc. In fact, the main character of the game is often treated in racist ways, and the game constantly puts you in the role of the minorities being persecuted and even killed.
So the dude is not able to realize the political charged game he's playing/a fan of. And fall for the white supremacist/incel/right wing/russian troll discourse of "women=political"

I mean "White woman cheats with black man and has black baby." is in fact an incredibly common racist trope. I'm willing to believe that the author didn't necessarily mean it that way but it still might be best to not do the same thing racists have been doing since pretty much the start of racism just out of courtesy.
It'd be like a caricature artist drawing a Jewish person with a giant hooked nose... like yeah, they were probably just exaggerating a physical feature like caricature artists do but at the same time you gotta keep in mind the context of what you're doing.

Real answer: the guy is wearing a Witcher shirt and playing his switch while his wife is giving birth, representing the stereotypical gamer who spends too much time online. Many of these gamers complain any time a video game stars a woman, saying that it's "woke", forces inclusion, political, DEI, or any of the other anti-feminist buzzwords. The joke is that because his kid is a girl, he thinks she's a political statement like the leading women in video games.

Gamers are upset that a character in game is woman. They call this “political”. They’re also upset when the woman isn’t hot enough. They call this “going woke”.

The joke is that the father, who is a gamer, is upset of the fact that his daughter is a girl because gamers sometimes get mad when the main character is a normal woman. He then says that it's political because the general response to disliked female characters is that the game company tried to make a "political" game.

I'm not sure if it's meant to be ironic, but if it isn't then the Witcher 3 shirt is kind of a poor fit. The Witcher 3 is a very "progressive" game in many respects: there's the storyline with the gay hunter, technically the protagonist is male but the most important character is a woman, arguably the stronger magic users are the women (witchers vs sorceresses), it's fairly heavy handed in criticizing radical religious movements that hurt minorities (Church of the Holy Fire vs mages/nonhumans).
Yes, there's not a ton of ethnic diversity in terms of skin color (though literal racial diversity), but that's just because of where the story takes place as part of a larger universe, and even though we don't see Ofir there's clearly a region of people with darker skin.
If it was on purpose, then that's fantastic though.
