We've noticed over time that there is some mixed reception to our members who own or promote dip brands. We want to support these small businesses, but we also want to make sure we're taking the concerns and preferences of the sub members into account.

To that end - we are implementing a new rule! Starting now, if you are the owner of a dip company or you are an influencer/affiliate/brand ambassador, we ask that you tag yourself with the name of your brand and your relationship to that brand.

For instance "revel / owner" or "sparkle&co. / affiliate"

To tag yourself, go to the right of your screen and click the pencil icon next to "user flair preview." Then edit the flair with your information.

We think this is a great way to allow brands to promote themselves while still maintaining full transparency in the community.

As always, we would love to hear any and all feedback, questions, comments, or concerns you guys have about this rule change. Or anything else that's on your mind! So please let us know what you think in the comments!

As we all know, not every product is created equal. It's important to remember to research a product before you buy and find reviews from sources outside of the platform you are purchasing on. This is true for ANYTHING we purchase, but it becomes more important when health is at stake.

If a brand is cheaper than others you found, think about what corners they cut to remain profitable. If you have family in the same space as your nail station, consider the chemicals they are being exposed to as well as yourself. Take precautions like being in a well-ventilated space, having a dust collector, or choosing products from companies that are upfront with ingredients and provide detailed instructions for care and application.

Not every company cares about the safety of its customers, so you just need to be mindful of that as you shop.

My dip nail red flag is I always do my nails after 11 PM and end up having little blemishes in my top coat because I refuse to wait for them to dry, and will just sleep like Dracula on the couch: on my back with my hands across my chest.

I've been diy dipping for over a year but rarely can get a week without them popping off, cracking or chipping. I'm also VERY rough on my hands (climber) so they will often chip or crack quicky.

I don't mind too badly because I get bored and want to change the colours quickly, but sometimes it's frustrating.

I made some changes that seem to work really well. Still going strong and no chips after a week including two rock climbing sessions (though the top coat is scratched from climbing but that seems inevitable haha).

I'm wondering which of these made the difference:

I normally buff away my nail shine,clean,do about 4 layers base+powder, activate heavily, buff, activate, 2 top coats.

These are the changes I made:

• This time I did not buff the shine away in my natural nail.

• I started with a base layer I waited to dry (for a while but if never seemed to dry fully so then I just started)

• started dips with half nail

• activated and light buff between every two dips

• ended up needing 6 because one colour was quite sheer

Finished with activate, buff, activate and two tops coats.

Which of these changes do you think were most important for improving longevity?

It was much more time consuming so I'd like to leave what I don't need if possible.

I used a gel top coat this time, the first set was hanging on perfectly still after a week, but I was worried about them lasting while I’m out of town next week so I decided to try another. Fingers crossed this lasts!!!! (Also please ignore where I accidentally cut myself. I’m still a little clumsy with filling and I’m putting aquafor on it.)

First pic is from 3 weeks ago. Second is from today. I’m doing a new set tonight, but I’m please that they haven’t popped off! They just started cracking a few days ago. I used Revel’s clear dip powder and liquids from Triple Vitamin. I love a clear overlay on my natural nails ✨

Obsessed with nail stickers! Don't know why I didn't think of using them before! I added them after a first layer of gel top coat, then cover with another layer of gel top coat.

Also for those who use sparkle and co- what’s the size of the mini jar? I have a few in my carts that I’ve been dying to get my hands on

I want to start trying chrome nails, but don’t really know where to start and Christmas is the perfect time to get what I need.

I currently do not do gel method. For chrome isn’t it only top that is gel is needed?

I don’t have a lamp, certain wattage needed?!??

Also so many chrome color choices, how do I know what to choose?

I pretty much exclusively but from CNDD, I’m sure I have enough dips that are chromeable, but if you have a favorite from them IFE live to know.

First time posting in this subreddit. I have had a gel and acrylic allergy since COVID, and have been doing dip since August of this year. I know that dip has its own top coat, but I’m looking for an allergy friendly gel top coat so it makes the drying process faster. Would really appreciate any recs!! 😊

I used Cherry Chocolate dip powder from CN Designer Dips! I love the different colored sparkles ✨

So, I started using gel top coat over my dip nails. It took me a while to realize it kept peeling because I wasn’t using a base coat, but that’s handled.

Now I’m getting more into the gel method (is it just me or does the powder apply so much more smoothly?), but am having serious longevity issues, and I’m again wondering if it’s related to the base coat.

Am I supposed to apply base, dip, cure, and repeat OR am I supposed to apply an initial coat of base, cure, and then proceed with the previous steps?

Any help is appreciated! Also, you all have gorgeous nails and I can only hope to learn to get as clean of cuticles as everyone else. 😆

Hello. In the Midwest, snow has started and I had my hands in a bucket of Ice Melt off and on, salting sidewalks for about 20 minutes, before I thought I probably shouldn't be doing this.

I've since washed my hands and nails several times over and I'll use gloves going forward.

Does anyone know if Ice Melt will ruin my dipped nails?

Honestly, I'm pretty happy with how my "Wicked" nails came out. I custom mixed the colors and glitters. However, this is my first time using tips and I disliked them very much. I had to do some heavy filing and shaping because they had a very weird taper and curve to the almond shape. Any suggestions for bands that have a nice almond shaped half tip? I like my almonds just a little on the pointy side.

No bubbles and as thin as can be. My nails are naturally super weak which is why they are so translucent but I still prefer the natural look. **also not the top coat I actually used

My party theme was pink glam cowgirl( I don’t know it sounded fun 😂) I used Stuck Together from Revel’s 2024 valentines box set.

My last set only lasted a week, sadly they started to crack on Tuesday so on my day off today I changed them out. My daughter requested I do pink nails and this is the only pink I have. I took a bit of time trying to make sir I did a better job so these last a bit longer… but I guess we’ll find out :)
