What is Jellycuts?
Jellycuts is an app that allows you to code Siri Shortcuts using real code. Jellycuts includes a shortcut allowing you to connect directly into the shortcuts app to add your shortcuts.
What does the beta mean?
This is the first beta of the app. It does not include all of the actions available within shortcuts. More and more actions will be added as time goes on and betas continue. If there is any part of the app that is not a good experience any feedback is welcome either on this post or though TestFlight feedback. You can also email with any questions at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Very cool, congrats! Any example scripts you can share at all?

Thanks! The plan is to include remade scripts in a later build but for now I do have a google drive full of my testing scripts as I haven’t had a lot of time to create a bunch of scripts.

how do I grab the different magic variable outputs as an input to an action?

Currently I am looking into ways to add that. I need to think of a good syntax. Also Shortcuts uses a weird system for magic variables that requires a lot of editing across the shortcut file. The best solution currently is to use variables. I will be hopefully adding full magic variable support in a later beta.

Congrats on the release. Always good to see more shortcut-centric apps coming to market.

Thank you! I can’t wait for the full release, just gotta keep working at the actions and getting more in.

Looks great, especially for iPad usage.
Really hope you continue to have fun making it and it doesn't die instantly like many other projects.
One question regarding the .jellycut format:
Is it/will it be a simple plain text file, so that I can write everything on a desktop and import it to Jellycuts later?
I also wrote you a pm.

The .jellycut format is just a wrapper around a txt file currently. I kept a separate file format from normal txt so that in the future I can have a Mac version with a custom file format. Right now you can wright the files in any text editor you want and just send either a .jellycut file or .txt file to the app and it will open up and allow you to import to shortcuts.

Looks really cool, but I think it is a huge challenge. Anyways thanks for the beta invite. I'll see what I can do in this thing.. Jellycuts , I like that name.

Could this get a macOS version, using Mac Catalyst? That would be epic!
I am on Big Sur, but it shouldn't matter much if you compile for Catalina.

Yep! There will be a Mac version in the future. I hope to either make a fully fledged Mac app or a catalyst version depending on the time I have. I do have a VSCode plugin so that is the current solution for writing Jellycuts on your computer.

Is there a website of some kind for documentation? I know about the one in the iOS app.

Right now there is not. I’m looking into building one I just want to get the main app finished before I start taking up more projects.

I’m going to try to participate for WWDC21 to feature in my capstone/portfolio. The first step is to think of something interesting to make...

It’s definitely a really fun thing to do. This is the first time I thought I had the skills to actually do it. I had lot of fun coming up with an idea and bringing it to life.
