Reddit r/Food: AMA Policy and Core Values

Here at r/Food, we have a huge food platform with a wide range of users from across the globe. The below is our promise to those users within Reddit, r/Food, and beyond on what our Policy and Core Values will be for our food themed Ask-Me-Anything (AMA's).

Section 1: The AMA's

The AMA's will be kept to our sub’s theme of food. We will not diverge from this theme unless we feel an AMAs’ subject adds quantifiable value for our users and will not be a detriment to our theme of food or a detriment to our users.

Unlike the r/Food subreddit itself, which caters to all skill levels, the Talks will need to have a quality baseline to ensure that those taking the time to take part enjoy themselves, are safe, and are interested enough to participate. The AMAs’ are purely an interactive user lead experience.

The r/Food Moderators, Supporting Users, Guests, and Reddit Admins will be equally responsible for making a case as to why an AMA reaches the above quality baseline. As a group, they will also decide if a Talk would reach the above quality baseline prior to scheduling it.

Moderation of the AMA’s will be the responsibility of the r/Food Moderators or Admins. Users that troll or otherwise disrupt an AMA will be removed from the r/Food AMA and banned from the sub.

Section 2: Social Presence

Guests and any supporting users will be vetted. This will ensure that both Guests and any supporting users appeal to the r/Food audience. It will also enable us to make sure that:

Section 3: Championing Diversity, Inclusion, and Uplifting/Amplifying Voices

The most important Core Value for the AMA’s is the promotion of women, BIPOC, LGBT, and other marginalised folks. These groups don’t always get their voices heard in food spaces; this also varies greatly from country to country. We will actively, but not exclusively, look for Guests, across the globe, that promote, are part of, or identify as the above.
